Safe household cleaning supplies to use around cats?

Cat Safe Cleaning Products

I just got some Green Works from the store yesterday. It says to keep out of reach of children (I think they'd drink it because it smells good). It doesn't say anything about pets though. I think that most cleaners are okay if you don't, like, spray it on the cat. But I never thought about it.

I'm looking on the internet, and it looks like certain ingredients found in some products are dangerous, but still, I doubt it would be bad in small doses... I just cleaned my bathroom with a swiffer wet cloth, and I clean out the litter box with just regular all-purpose cleaner.

There are natural things you could use, like vinegar or baking soda, that I'm sure are fine. There are "recipes" for natural things like that online as well. Good luck. I'm certainly going to be looking at labels closer from now on.

I would use bleach, but don't use TOO much of it, or get it too close with your cats. I have used comet before, but IDK if that's really safe. I usually put my cats each in their own separate cat carrier while I clean, in a different room, so they don;t inhale any chemicals... Just to be safe. Also try using Dawn dish soap. I happen to know Dawn will not hurt them, b/c I bathe my cats in it to get rid of fleas, and it works every time. Which is why my cats don'thave fleas at all... It's more effective, and more safe than cat shampoo. SO I am sure if you can safely bathe cats in it, you can use it to clean. It won;t hurt them at all. And of course EVERYTHING says not to use on or around pets but everyone knows you still have to clean yyour house somehow! It's just so they can;t be sued for misuse. If you need anything else, just ask!

White vinegar - when I was a maid we used that to clean lineoleum, and my roommate who had asthma used it to clean glass. Baking soda works great as a scouring powder, also a trick I learned from the asthmatic roommate. Murphy's Oil Soap - works great on wood work, leather, and as a grease-stain remover for laundry, and for cars, I know it is gentle because I have also used it as a flea shampoo on my cats. Bleach diluted in water in a 1:10 ratio is a great disinfectant that will evaporate without leaving a toxic residue (but beware that it can leave bleach marks on your clothes).

Avoid things that have the ingredients phenol (which is in Pine-sol and Lysol) or quaternal ammonium phosphates. Most cats hate ammonia too. Bleach and simple detergents (like non-antibacterial dish soap) are fine. Natural cleaners like vinegar and baking soda are good choices. Those Clorox wipes that are safe around food are convenient and safe.

Vinegar. I've actually been using it alot, especially to clean my kitchen and it's a wonderful degreaser!!! I even mop with it. The best thing about vinegar, too is that it is one of the few things that can also get out the stink of cat pee (for carpets or furniture), safely.

I would say baking soda, vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide H2O2 3%. I put baking soda in the litter box to reduce odor and use H2O2 in the spray bottle.

H2O2 is kinda environment-friendly bleach to kill germs/bacteria and it creates only H2O and O2 afterwards. Stronger H2O2 is used to clean swimming pools. It kills bathroom molds. It is cheaply available in drugstores.

...Hide or keep closed all your cleaning supplies, your cat shouldn't be playing or be around any chemicals.
