When christians refer to jesus as their shepard...?

isnt this just showing that they are all like sheep. As in dumb animals that blindly follows whatever leads them?

yes some of us are lost sheep, but we recognise his voice when he calls,we respond in a likewise manner, so he leaves the other sheep that are faithful and goes in search for us, so take heart all is not lost if you just call to him.

Sheep don't blindly follow whatever leads them. In fact, what Jesus said at John 10:27 "My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."

If you get several flocks of sheep in the same pen, and their shepherds call them, only the sheep who belong to that specific shepherd will come. They will not listen to the voice of strangers, in keeping with the scripture found at John 10:5 "A stranger they will by no means follow but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers."

Jesus didn't use these as metaphors, they were used as illustrations. Metaphors don't necessarily have to be accurate or true. Illustrations must be based in reality to be effective.

Yup, and as a farmer, i understand precisely what happens to sheep and different livestock. The shepherd would take care of and carry them at the same time as they stay, yet while they are grown, nicely...you recognize what happens. Frankly, that analogy continually did malicious program me approximately Christianity and it did not help to develop up in a church that did not like exchange and did issues the acceptable comparable way from sunday to sunday. right until eventually now I moved out on my own and supply up going, it unnerved me to make certain how human beings in my church behaved throughout provider, all thoroughly in sync. in certainty, all of it comes right down to 2 words: herd mentality.

    Why not at all...

And how clever of you to allude the idea that all Christians are dumb animals for believing in God...

Nice question however, you mix contempt, sarcasm and Christian bigotry very well...

We do blindly follow wherever Jesus (the good shepherd) leads. It's called faith.

Yes. Jesus is a copy-cat savior of many ancient Gods, like Horus, many that were known as "the shepard" or "the lamb of god"

Bingo! Doesn't that make you want to become a Christian? I think that it is time that they come up with a new metaphor.
