Which job would you choose?

Tough situation, Julie. Consider the employment situation in your profession. If you choose job 1 and are miserable, how easy will it be to get a comparable job? I've made that compromise before and it gets difficult to motivate yourself to go to work some days.

Can you share your thoughts with boss #2? If he/she knows that someone else is competing for you, you will have a stronger negotiating position. Justify why you should be hired and receive benefits and a higher salary. Highlight contributions you have made to the organization, and let them know that you WANT to work there - Happy employees are productive employees.

Go for the money. You can put up with stupid people for enough cash and in this economy, benefits and $$ outweigh nice people. Worst case scenerio, you hate it and look for a new job in a year or so all the while you're making more $$.

It has been my experience that you should always take the money - you always outlive your boss, and you can cry all the way to the bank.
