For home use? Go as large as you can afford.

If you are concerned about portability, then you need to find a balance (that is right for YOU) between being too big and heavy to lug around and being too small to work comfortably. (Since this is personal to your needs, there is no one answer we could give.)

15.4 is pretty standard. Fits well for work and entertainment. For portability, 13" inch area. Maybe a 14.1" for a little extra room.
