Very shy cat suddenly decides to make a new friend???
Just wondering if anyone has ever encountered this... one of my rescues (almost 12 years old) has always been so shy with everyone but me (earning her the name "Boo").. She was feral for nearly a year before I won her trust and brought her inside, and she's always been very trusting and affectionate with me - but never anyone else, not even my kids who have grown up with her.
She has suddenly decided that my boyfriend of 8 months is her new best friend - she's on him constantly! I think it's great and it really surprised me, but why him and now? She never took to my ex (and we were together for nearly 8 years!) What gives? He's not even a cat person!
I had her spayed when I adopted her, so she's not in heat. And her shyness has always been extreme - if one of my kids tried to pet her when I was holding her, she'd howl like they were trying to kill her. It's really strange that she's locked onto my guy.

a lot of cats are one-person cats. and theres a lot of situations where cats cling to non-cat people because theyre not too forward and they give her space.

How nice. This guy must be something because cats can tell! I have never seen a shy cat like kids or even tolerate being around them so this is not surprising. Since she was feral, she was cautious of loud and fast movements and this is what kids are about.lol.
Your boyfriend whether he knows it or not is now a cat person.

Cat`s feelings are instinct .
Could be your boyfriends feeling have changed or yours to him for the better. This change could be of late. If there is a deeper relationship with your friendship and more excepting.Then the cat or anything you say or do is more excepting.Just what the cat feels between all of you. It`s instinct.
Cat knows kids will try to mess it up like dressing it or something.

Strange- I have a shy rescue (Mo) with the nickname "Boo"! It's taken three years for her to love me!
Some cats just take to certain people. She could've smelt something on him (tuna or something that she likes).
Cats are strange and act in funny ways. That's what makes cat people love cats even more!!!
Kudos to you for saving a shy cat! I know how it is to gain their trust. It feels great and you get a sense of real pride!

Perhaps the cat started seeing his affection to you, and simply got a bit jealous?

Some animals just click with certain people. Sometimes, you can't explain it, but just enjoy it. She must see something special in him and likes it.

could be she's a one person cat,could be she's in heat,
calico cats are known to be very very shy and always hiding
