We use a Diaper Champ - it's much easier than the Diaper Genie, and there are no refills to buy. You can just use a regular trash bag, or no trash bag at all if you're dedicated to cleaning it. It does hold the smell better than a trash can, but you have to change it often or it gets stinky. But that's also the case with the Diaper Genie.

We've tried it all 3 ways - Diaper Genie, Diaper Champ, and trash can - and I think the Champ is the way to go!

I used the Saftey First NEAT for my first. I hated that darn thing! It wasted alot of bag and was difficult to use one handed. This time around we are using the Diaper Genie II for our baby. I love it. It is contained better than just a regular trash can, holds the smell better, and has minimal waste of the bag. We throw poopy diapers into the Diaper Genie, but wet ones go into a trash can that sits right next to the Genie.

I am using the diaper Champ! I highly recommend it. I thought at first I didn't need it, however just using a trash can smelled up the whole room. I use the same trash bags as I do in the kitchen so there is no extra cost after the purchase of the champ. My husband takes it out once a week on trash day, we spray it with Lysol and it smell good all week. I recommend it. In fact, i don't throw away stinky diapers anywhere else because they will really stink up the house later on when your baby starts solid foods.

  • We tried the diaper genie's and champ's and found that putting the diaper into a plastic bag and taking it out to the garbage outside was the best solution! This is what I do (mother of 5 kids 6 and under) and what all my friends do (most have 4 kids and up!). Good luck!

I use the Diaper Champ. I wanted the Diaper Genie until I found out about the Diaper Champ. With the d.g. you have to buy those cartridges or whatever they are called. With the d.c. all you gotta do is put regular trash bags in it. I like it a lot. I don't smell anything and it last about a week worth of diapers (with my 4 week old). You end up saving a lot of money with the d.c. I think the d.g. is just a popular advertised item.

we use a diaper genie in the baby's room/closet and the trash in the kitchen witch all ways gos out

  • I use a diaper genie 2. I think its better then the original one. We just have it next to our garbage can. It works!

  • i have not put my diaper genie to use yet but i did buy one.. my friend had told me you will need one.. it makes sense tho.. it keeps the smell and also possible bacteria away.. baby goes 7-10 diaper a day and to put all that in your regular trash can everyday can cause alot of pain.. it will pile your trashcan like crazy... refills for the bag does cost bit of money but i think its worth it... kitchen has a trash can restroom have trash can.. it would only makes sense to have one for diapers and dirty wipes.. right? haha.. plus its easy..

we have diaper genie 2 and a trash can; peepees go in the trash can to save buying liners; stinkies go in genie; we have NO odor in there and she lets loose some nasty stuff; it's easy to empty too; takes seconds...

I got one (the original) as a shower gift with my first and also used it with my second. But mine didn't do the best job containing odors. And those 'diaper sausages'... LOL!!! I hated dealing with those. By the time I had my third, I had thrown it out. Looked nice in the commercials, but you can wrap the diaper in newspaper or a shopping bag and throw it in the garbage yourself for much less money.
