How much does it usually cost to obtain yer medical records from a hospital?

    it shoudl be free. it is illegal to charge patients for their records becauase technically the records belong to the patient. i work in a hospital in new york and we are only allowed to charge money (75 cents per page) for records if insurance companies or lawyers want them. but if the patient wants them, we have to make copies for the patients for free since legally the records belong to the patient.

    Usually it's free. At worst the cost of the copies (e.g., 5 cents a page).
