Witches/Pagans, have you ever been tempted to do a ritual for...

...a professional athlete or sports team?

I'm asking because my favorite NASCAR driver (Tony Stewart) is having a horrible run of bad luck right now, and the more my non-Pagan friends tease me about how "maybe you should do a spell for him," the more reasonable it sounds!

Now, I'm not going to do it because I don't think the Gods actually care who wins the Sprint Cup championship this year; I'm just wondering if anyone has been tempted to *try* it. Or have you actually done it? :-)

Note to non-Pagans: Yes, I know this sounds a bit weird. Note to conservative Christians: We already know you think we're going to hell.

Update:

As the great Darrell Waltrip (who is a born-again Christian) said, "Drivers aren't superstitious! That would be bad luck!" Same applies to their fans.

I've done rituals for people without their knowledge, and I don't think it's a problem as long as you're not trying to make them fall in love with you or stuff like that.

I think healing spells for people are fine - ethically it's kind of the same as praying for people who are ill. So I guess a good luck spell or a protection spell for Tony Stewart shouldn't be a problem, as long as it's done in a way that can't bring bad luck to anyone else. But relating the spell specifically to the championship might not make a lot of sense - just a straightforward good luck or protection spell for the man himself, I reckon.

    Does that make sense?

Well no, I haven't, because I'm not really into sports that much. And as you said, I'm pretty sure the gods don't care who wins! However, I don't think there would necessarily be anything wrong with doing one. Sending your team or athlete some positive energy to accept and use as they see fit would be my approach. You know, harming no one, according to free will, for the highest good. My ritual group has done rituals for other public figures, actually. I guess that's the same thing.

Honestly, as long as there is no financial (or other type of) gain for yourself, I don't see the problem.

Casting a spell to help someone is no different to praying to the Gods.

I don't see how sending them a little positive energy would hurt anything. Just don't go sending negative energy to the opposing team.

It's not something I've ever tried, I'm not that into sports.

Nope, never been tempted. But then again, the outcome of sporting events and the like is not even a blip on my personal radar in the first place, soooo...

for sure, people who prepare ceremonies that they % out as "magic", do have faith that they "paintings". in any different case they does not be doing them. of path, THEIR theory of magic and its limits isn't inevitably what you notice on the Hollywood silver show. and of path, people's skepticism and assumptions have not got a brilliant number of a concerning their very very own very own reports. with the aid of the way, in case you like an informative answer from specific communities of people, this is in many situations not a competent theory to lump all of them mutually and tackle them as a "regardless of", not to show supply them a loaded question. purely a tenet.

Never. Magic for selfish motives is too dark for my taste.

So you believe in luck, both good and bad? And how would a "spell" go about changing that luck?

Are you asking whether or not you should do the spell? If so, then sure why not.
