Has anyone ever calculated the odds against a living universe popping up from nothing totally by accident?

Have the odds been calculated before?

- you need a void that is able to contain things to appear (space)

- you need a hypothetical singularity to form from nothing/nowhere

- you need the hypothetical singularity to be volatile and "expand" (big bang)

- you need the composition of the hypothetical singularity to be able to form stars, gravity, and planets

- you need amino acids from nowhere to from hypothetical protein ooze

- you need the hypothetical ooze to have the ability to duplicate itself AND evolve

- you need the correct atmospheric envioronment to support the hypothetical ooze

- you need this process to go uninterrupted for a few billion years

Has ANYONE ever calculated the odds of this scenario just occuring with ZERO guidance?

We have no basis for calculating such probabilities. Part of your argument is that of the fine tuned universe. Choose even slightly different relative strengths of the forces would make the universe as we know it impossible. There isn't even a viable scientific theory of where the stuff for the big bang came from. We have natural explanations for some of the 'guidance'. Of all the variations that happen by genetics, randomness, and quantum behaviors, the ones which survive and thrive are the ones that work better or convey an advantage. We make guesses about how life might have formed from non-life (abiogenesis). We have a really hard time trying to come up with a way that the mechanism of DNA could have happened by any natural process. We have some quite plausible explanations of how galaxies, stars, and planets might have formed.

    - spontaneous matter has not been proved I'll give you that.

    - have you ever mixed mentos and Diet Coke big bang extremely simplified lol.

    - if during multiple hundreds of collisions a mass was formed that could form gravity then yes it's possible. Stars came first then planets I think.

-I really can't remember the test but a team actually discovered that a new earth could produce the ooze.

    - duplication comes from evolution, evolution is random DNA mutations so yea that's possible.

    - ooze is ooze so it won't need air, but once ooze lungs it will be better at reproducing etc... if it wasn't oxygen it would be nitrogen we'd be breathing

    - look outside at night and see how many stars are out there we got "lucky" I guess 1 in a million probably, sure thing one in nine well eight poor Pluto.

hope that semi answers your questions.

Ask yourself this ,where were you ,before here ,and where will you go after ,if you can't make something from nothing how are you even here ,at all! Were things better before ,when people did believe ,that God existed? Things have went to hell in a handbag ,since the early seventies ,is in the last forty years things have exponentionally ,grown out of hand ,every since we took God out of our schools ,and our homes ,children run rampant ,murdering each other ,carjackings ,home invasions ,mass ,and serial murders popping up out of nowhere ,I'd rather that everyone truly believed in a deity ,and because of that ,did good out of that belief ,than what we have now!!!! I had a horrible ,absolutely horrendous childhood ,filled with ,abuse ,neglect ,endangerment ,abandonment ,and that belief in a God ,that some of you seem to think is an antiquated ,myth ,I've made it his far because of that belief ,otherwise ,Inwould have killed myself a very long time ago ,when against all odds ,I was doing great in school ,(for once) when I woke up one day ,and family members blew marijuana smoke in my face as I lay helplessly ,vaunerably ,asleep in my bed ,I woke up so intensely aware ,that not one person on this entire planet cared about me ,and what I faced all alone in this world ,believe it ,people ,any one if you out there right now ,or at anytime in the future able to make something out of nothing ,because not one of you can get Mentos ,and Coke ,from absolutely nothing!!! Thanks for reading! Humbly ,submitted ,for all.

    In a Mathematical Universe....

Has anyone ever calculated the odds of it happening via Divine Creation!?

Man-made conjecture on Man-made Religious belief, cannot make a proof of Creation.

Best stick to Good Old .... Man-made Science!!

The only real answer to your question:

'Has anyone ever calculated the odds against a living universe popping up from nothing totally by accident?'

    Is:

    But it did!!!

Since, unlike fudamentalists, rational humans recognize that there is a lot we do not understand about the universe, your question is not troubling. Eventually we will learn more about how the universe formed, and maybe some day we will even understand it.

That is, if we don't collapse under the weight of our own outdated mythology first...

I have no idea what the odds of the big bang could be.

What do you suppose the odds are that an all-powerful being would come to exist from sheer nothingness?

What do odds have to do with it? It was against the odds that my husband and I, being married at 18 and 19 would stay together but it's been 6 years and we're planning on starting a family in a few years. As long as there is a chance your argument doesn't prove anything.

You should be checking in the science section I think, unless you're referring to the likelihood that a god could pop up from no where totally by accident and then "create" the universe seemingly by accident...

No one knows the variables, so no one can calculate it.

Do you mean to suggest that because we can't, it must have been created by the God of traditional theism?

Trouble is that the God of traditional theism is incoherent, and as impossible as a square circle.

Perhaps your argument proves the traditional Norse cosmogony, in which a cow licked a giant's armpit and created sentient life.

Yep, the odds are exactly 1:1.

And therefore, because it is impossible that the universe just happened by random chance, it must have been created by the specific God I believe, right? If not A, then it can only mean Q, right?
