Can anyone spot a difference in these statements?
Is anyone really shocked at the lack of substance and specificity of Obama's statement?
John McCain's statement:
Today news reports indicate that Russian military forces crossed an internationally-recognized border into the sovereign territory of Georgia. Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory. What is most critical now is to avoid further confrontation between Russian and Georgian military forces. The consequences for Euro-Atlantic stability and security are grave.
The government of Georgia has called for a cease-fire and for a resumption of direct talks on South Ossetia with international mediators. The U.S. should immediately convene an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to call on Russia to reverse course. The US should immediately work with the EU and the OSCE to put diplomatic pressure on Russia to reverse this perilous course it has chosen. We should immediately call a meeting of the North Atlantic Council to assess Georgia’s security and review measures NATO can take to contribute to stabilizing this very dangerous situation. Finally, the international community needs to establish a truly independent and neutral peacekeeping force in South Ossetia.

Barack Obama's statement:
I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict. Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint, and to avoid an escalation to full scale war. Georgia’s territorial integrity must be respected. All sides should enter into direct talks on behalf of stability in Georgia, and the United States, the United Nations Security Council, and the international community should fully support a peaceful resolution to this crisis.

Yes, it shows that Obama doesn not grasp the history of the problem as well as what is necessary to resolve it. McCain is basically saying that Eastern and Western europe have for the past 20 years given up on establishing their on military strengths which helped to offset the Russian threats. IHense Europe is responsible for the consequences of East West instability. Therefore, McCain realizes that only aswser is to use the UN but he is well aware that the UN has been pretty useless in the past 50 years. MCCainknows and has met with Putin in the past, Obama has never met with him.

Well, if you guys could read, you would see that McCain is BLUNDERING IDIOT! He should not pretend to give a history of the war and exclude the fact that Georgia started it. Even the morons on this groups don't know that Georgia started it by firing on Russian peace keepers. McCain's absurd accounting of events and blaiming Russia for the all the evils is exactly the type of military war mongering that doesn't solve anything and is typical of Republican idiots who love to spend money on military contracts and kill people whenever they have the chance.
Barack's statement is neutral in assigning blame and is hence less antagonistic, and is similar to other statements not just by Bush but by other world leaders. It is fascinating to me that Bush would rather start a war than loose an election, and be even stupider than the Bush administration.

McCain seems to immediately jump to conclusion that Russia is wrong, which is expectedly simplistic. Do you know that Russians have had to deal with terrorists in their own country, too. I'm not saying Georgians are terrorists and I certainly don't know the whole story. I just doubt McCain knows or even cares to know the whole story, since he doesn't seem to know Shiites from Sunis from Al Qaeda or the complexities of Asia and Africa. I think it's good that Obama doesn't jump to conclusion and only mention the Russian agression. There's history there, and surely business interests I hear, but I want a president that doesn't want to get involved in every conflict over there, and is open to negotiations before bomb bomb Iran Mc Cain.

human beings could learn that means. You declare that one and all religions are in keeping with baseless assertions, yet that could be a baseless (and demonstratively fake) fact. What baseless assertions kind the inspiration of Confucianism, as an occasion? So in simple terms out of interest, the place did you learn how to inform the version between baseless assertions and authentic statements? do no longer tell me, enable me wager - you got here approximately it clearly, ideal? You did no longer take any college classes on good judgment or extreme questioning, you in simple terms count on your very own organic skill to tell apart between what's life like and what isn't.

The UN has NO teeth. They should be kicked out of NYC and implement an organization that passes resolutions that actually mean something. To answer your question, it seems that is about all the time obama had to comment while vacationing in his "native" Hawaii. There is no strong condemnation on the part of Obama's statement. "Let's sip lattes and chat about this Russia/Georgia thing, shall we?"

I'd like to know what other contestants for public office in all the other nations of the world are saying.
I doubt I'd spit down Obamacain's throat if his entrails were aflame.
This is OUR nation. Not a private play-toy of the sickly pseudo-royalty hiding in Ivory Towers of DC.
We're sovereign. Until Russia or Georgia come treading on our land or ask for assistance, stay the heck out of it.

Yes I see the difference clear as day,
They basically both said the same thing except Obama took way less time to get to the point!
Like I always say...
Spare me all the bull & filler, while the problem grows bigger.
Just get to the bottom line, so we can solve the problem in time!

Obama always comes off as a bit of a scared buffoon.
Sad, but true.
Gotta give the advantage to McCain on this one.
