What's the best way to clean bathroom rugs?

The kind with a rubber backing. They're pretty flexible and I thought I might do a washer and dryer (low heat) on them. The top of one type is like a berber and the other is plush. They're about 2' X 3' or so.

Update:

Guess I should have said they're dark colors - blue and also burgundy.

Regular washer and dryer. I do it all the time and they come out great.

I have used Woolite in cold water on a delicate washer setting for years. I think Woolite even has a a version available for dark colors. This detergent truly retains shape and color of the item. A very low or just air cycle in the dryer though because the rubber backing can cause a fire in your dryer. You can start the drying process in the dryer and then finish drying on a rack. I would not put the rugs outside because the sun will fade the color.

Don't put them in the dryer. Go ahead and throw them in the washer but hang them to dry. The dryer can really screw up that rubber backing and will basically wreck it. The washer is fine, though.

Washer - on Delicate. Air Dry.When you put it in the dryer it will melt the rubber backing, plus fade the colors.

I put them in my front load washer (would not recommend top load) on delicate setting. Then I put them in the dryer on LOW HEAT. Make sure you us low heat if it has a rubber backing or it will peel off from the heat.

That's how I'd do it, if they'll fit and are flexible enough to withstand the agitator... but then again, I have a bit of a policy regarding high maintenance *anything*.... If it can't live with me, well, then it can't live with me ;-) ie. things that need 'cold wash, line dry' / 'hand wash only' / etc. I've found that most things will eventually slip past me and get put in with everything else, and if it's ruined, well good riddance. If it survives, even better! No more worries about it.

I just throw them in the washer and dry them on low heat just like you said. Works great!!

I shake mine outside and throw them in the washer and the dryer on low.
