Well I am in the UK and assuming i have reasonable access to the shower trap/drain the item would be replaced in under an hour costing £70/$140 including parts. Any good plumber would also be able to regrout/reseal your shower cubicle should this be the problem. I would I hire a reputable plumber not a tiler and hedge your bets.
I am writing some tutorials for emergency plumbing repairs over at www.drmaintenance.co.uk so keep em peeled.

You don t say if it s a tile shower or a fiberglass pan type shower.. If it s ceramic don t waste $ on a plumber..99% of the leaks from a ceramic shower drain need a tile person..rare occasions you ll need a plumber to replace the actuall drain after its riped apart but most tile people can fix it because they have to rip it apart and replace the pan and do tile repairs GL

This is a hard one to answer without seeing it. It depends on the nature of the leak and the base labor rates where you live. If a labor union is involved, the rate will be a lot higher.
Be sure the plumber is insured and bonded before you start and don't pay anything up front. That is a sure sign of an amateur.

Let me see..... let me look that one up in my book. Oh! a drain leak costs $65 per hour labor plus whatever parts and products we use to repair that leak. But Wait! We have a special this week! 10% off the total repair bill. How long will it take us to complete this repair and what parts will we need mam?

Your plumber’s rate (and actual problem for that matter) could be different, but I had a tub drain leak fixed for about $400 last year.
