Is it Preeclampsia? Should I be worried? What can I do to cure it?
I had doc't appointment this morning. My BP was 130/70 and 1+K protein in Urine. Doc said it seems like a sign of preeclampsia. I have to do 24 hr urine test. I measured little big today also. All my appointments before had been great. My pregnancy so far had been pretty uneventful so it was all good until this morning. Should I be worried? If it really is Preeclampsia, I know she would want C-section or labor induction. Has any of you been through it? Will my baby be okay?
P.S. Baby is moving and kicking.
I am posting this question to understand this situation better so i am prepared for good and bad.
Thanks

I had protien in my Urine clear through out my pregnancy. Could be a sign of preeclampsia, could just be border lign.
I had it through out my pregnancy, but it never went into preclampsia and I had a very normal, healthy beautiful girl.
Be sure to be drinking lots of water and trust your doctors.
If the doctor saw a sign for concern she absolutly would have told you. So try not to worry. You should be fine!

your bp is great but the protien is what they worry about. it could be something to worry about but I wouldn't until you get the results of your 24 hour urine test. I had preecalmpsia with my first and second and now my third babies. I was induce with both of my previous pregnancies and this one I will be induced at 36 weeks. I had severe swelling in my hands face and fee to the point that I didn't look abything like my normal self and couldn't get shoes. try walking in to the hospital barefoot in december. it's not fun. you have a very small amount of pretien so it is probably nothing some women actually carry small amouts of protien all the time. also you may have all of the symptoms or just one or two. as of right now if you do have it it sounds like a very mild case and all they will do is watch you very closely. also you didn't mention how far along you are. if you are 36 weeks or more they may just go a haed and induce right away if your 24 hour test comes back even slight in the off but if you not that far along they will monitor you closely and you may eventually be put on bedrest and possibaly have to take medication to help with the condition. also your baby will be moving reguardless. preeclampsia is a condition that mostly effects the mother however if it gets bad it can restrict blood flow to the baby so make sure that when you lye down you lay on your left side because it is supposed to help to increase blood flow to the baby. and try to reduce your sodium intake and keep your feet elevated even with your heart. if you start to get frequent headaches, uper gastric pains(pain under your right breast or right ribs), lower back pains, and/or blurred vision be sure to call your doctor because these are symptoms of hellp syndrome and this can cause liver failure or worse so the baby would need to be taken.

Your blood pressure was fine and just because you spill protein is NOT always a sign of preeclampsia. It can be from diabetes (if you're a diabetic), it can be from a muscle injury like if you worked out too hard or banged a muscle, it can be dietary from too much protein consumed over the last couple of days, it can be a kidney issue, it can be a kidney infection. There's so many things - the doctor needs to look at the whole picture and not just the protein. I had protein in my urine twice in my pregnancy and had not one problem with blood pressure or preeclampsia. I wouldn't sweat it yet.

I went through it during labor. I was in labor for two days - 7 minutes apart and I kept calling the hospital and they said not to come in until the contractions were five minutes apart. Big mistake. Thank goodness that when I did get in there and they did the emergency C-section, my daughter - though small - was fine. I would suggest that you be aware of the signs but also plan the c-section to be safe.

No one so far had told you what to do for it. Take 2000 mg. per day of calcium and 1000 mg. of magnesium. Get at least 90 grams of protein per day. According to the book, The Brewer Medical Diet for Normal and High-Risk Pregnancy, lack of protein in the diet is the most common cause of toxemia.

It only means that the baby isn't ready yet. This is only a prob if you are really close to time. I had preeclampsia with my oldest at eight months. By the time it was time, she and I were both ready.
