Turn the heat and A/C down when you're away at work or asleep. I have a timed thermostat that does it automatically for me. Turn the hot water heater down to 140 F. Buy those fluorescent bulbs. Regularly clean off the cooling coils on the back of or underneath your refrigerator. Turn out the lights in empty rooms. Be sure your place is well insulated and use weather stripping where needed. Keep your refrigerator and freezer well stocked. Use the microwave more and the oven less. Microwaves use much less energy.

digital T stat is a good way to start you can program it so it turns it self down when you go to work or bed. Or you can turn down the T stat on your own before bed and work. Also they sell these things for electric outlets when you take off the cover you put these behind them they stop drafts. Weather striping doors and hopefully you have good windows. At our old place we had single pain and you could feel that cold winter air coming right through them. We had to put plastic wrap around them and shrink them to fit with a blow dryer

Make sure you have you cable/satellite service on the lowest plan. Around here that is $18/month.
If you have a cellphone, check into lowering your minute plan if you are using less than you pay for. Be sure to confirm it won't extend your contract.
