I'm having a string trio at the ceremony. What songs would you suggest?
The only one I know I don't want is here comes the bride...
I believe it will be a cello, a violin and either a guitar or viola.

An experienced trio should be able to make any song work, but you should check with them and choose songs that they are familiar with to make it easier for them.
Good luck!

I know that most classical songs are not ones you can dance to. Ask the trio what songs they play at weddings because you are unsure of what they can do. They should have music already to show those who hire them. Then pick out the stuff you like. Ask them if they can play the Song "Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole. This is a nice song that Ive heard played at weddings. Also ask them if they play any love songs like ones from Broadway musicals. Like from Mama Mia, made by Abba and some songs from Hairspray. Catchy songs which people can dance too. I think the Song from Shinaya Twain "From this Moment On" Is nice for your entrance song.

I had a string quartet play at our wedding and in my opinion any song sounds great with strings... well I'm catholic so we had a limited song choice due to the strict catholic ways of life... I really can only remember 2 songs that were played during our ceremony and they were both good... On Eagles Wings and The Prayer are the 2 songs I had that I can remember were very good

Because You Loved me would be beautiful for the seating of the parents.
Bless The Broken Road is pretty.
Daughters would be nice for father/daughter dance.
Don't Stop believing would be nice on strings.

Your local large music and instrument outlet should have a wedding book with various parts. Your combo may be very competent in wedding music already. Ask them. I have a fake book with about 100 selections for weddings publ by Hal Leonard. [The fake book has melody and chords.]
