Is McCain secretly thinking about bringing back the draft if he becomes president?

A woman in the audience offered that suggestion to replenish our military and McCain agreed.Saddle up boys and girls...McCain WANTS YOU !

Update:

That statement McCain made was on the news.If you'd stop watching POX news and watch the real news, you would have seen it, My Friends.

I have heard McCain say several times publicly that he does NOT think we should have a draft. He said it before he was running and he says it now. Baracka on the other hand will need a draft to get enough bodies for all the fighting he wants to get us into.

Mr. McCain was probably not paying attention when the woman was speaking. He doesn't want to reinstate the draft. He wants to continue the Bush policy of over working the few unfortunate GI's we have. Some of our soldiers have been redeployed to Iraq three and four times. They did not volunteer for that! The more times they are deployed, the less likely they will make it back.

Senator McCain knows that asking for sacrifice from people or a draft will make them think about the wars he wants to continue or start. (In case you have forgotten, he wants to "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran". He has been tough talking with Russia regarding Georgia. (Of course that's nuclear stuff) None of us will be needed if that breaks out. Russia is not happy about President Bush's request to put a missle defense system in Poland and a radar in the Czech Republic. We didn't want Russia's missles in Cuba back in 1962. Google Cuban missle crisis.

We are still in Iraq because there are only a small pool of people involved. Back in the 60's students on college campus' knew that soon there number would be up and they were protesting. For that reason, we really do need a draft. The entire country needs to care when we go off to war. It is our country and our government. I personally do not wish to "stay the course."

he cannot enact the draft without the approval of congress.also only men can be drafted, not women, because they do not have to sign up for their draft cards.i do think america should have mandatory military enlistment for at least 2 years for any male that turns 18 or when they finish school, unless they go to college.

    Mobilization (draft) procedures

Congress and the President authorize a draft: A crisis occurs which requires more troops than the volunteer military can supply. Congress passes and the President signs legislation which revises the Military Selective Service Act to initiate a draft for military manpower.

    LOL

A woman with no understanding of the American government.

18-year old boys have to register for Selective Service in case of a military EMERGENCY - but the DRAFT will never be reinstated

That would have to go through Congress and it would never pass

What McCain wants to do is make the military a more attractive career option for young adults

Not true. Produce some evidence backing this claim and I will consider it. Can you do it? Didn't think so.

If anyone is planning on bringing back the draft, it would be the democrats. They are all about using scare tactics to get their way and I am sure they wouldn't think twice about endangering American young people just so they can scare parents into shouting down the war.

I don't think it matters what he is thinking. When our troops get spread to thin, it will have to happen. Eventually, we will run out of volunteers. Hello, Vietnam? A lot of Americans weren't exactly on board with the draft then, but it didn't stop.

I guess McCain supporters think that he would just "miracle up" thousands of volunteers every time he decides to wage a little war.

Loose Lips Grampy McSame takes in excess of 6 different prescription drugs each and every day. This is probably why he can't remember from one day to the next what he's said or what he stands for. Just imagine what it will be like when he forgets to take them all together or gets them mixed up.

McCain has said "there will be more wars"... if he's referring to the inevitability of wars in the distant futures, or more wars in the near future is unknown. If we want to fight a third front, there will almost certainly be a draft ... or a nuclear war.

  • If this is all you've got what're ya gonna do when your boy is 15 points down in October and it doesn't matter how much money he's spending? Start whining early that the election's already been stolen?!? :-))

Earth to Far-Left Wingnuts, Earth to Far-Left Wingnuts!!! There's gonna be NO DRAFT because the American people (you DO remember them, right?) don't want one. So give it up, wingnut, and find something of substance to offer. Oh, that's right, I forgot -- you're unable to offer anything of substance. Sorry, MY BAD! :-))
