So now the Bush administration wants to set timetables for withdrawal from Iraq?
What are your thoughts on this?

It was just last month that the Bush administration was agreeing to a "time horizon" while criticizing and even ridiculing Democratic efforts to set fixed timetables for withdrawal. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artic...
Now they dare use such a once blasphemous term within the neoconservative fringe? All of a sudden, conservative apologists are cheering him on because this means the "job is done" in regards to the situation in Iraq, though any independent observer would say work is far from being finished. Still, this is yet another fine example of the right wing's "flip-flopping" on the issues.
"Less than 16 months. Getting what you want right? You did want out of Iraq? Oh, Obama was supposed to do that."
Um, Obama is not even president so how could he possibly "go it alone" to bring back troops? In actuality, this can be easily interpreted as the Bush regime attempting to take credit for someone else's ideas. The sheer stupidity of the far-right amuses me.

It's no different than any other military conflict we have been engaged in. Why the surprise by all of the left ? The difference is that we will leave when the job is done as opposed to the lefts choice of skipping out of town with our tails between our legs because they (the left) don't have the guts to stick it out when things get tough and follow it through to the end. Gen Petraeus has been proven right by the great success of the surge. Harry Reid who said the war was lost has been shown to be the pessimistic, no guts coward that he is. Nancy " Please buy my book" Pelosi, who said a year ago that we have to get out now or suffer a loss, has been shown to have no concept of military operations or of military strategy ,or in fact, of how the real world works at all. You know, sometimes war is inevitable. Soldiers don't want war because they are the one's who have to fight, but if it comes down to war, isn't it a good thing that we have the best military on the face of the planet? Think about it ! The Dems were so invested in defeat in Iraq that now they don't know what to do. Bush staying the course was the right thing to do and we are safer for it. It's no accident that we haven't been hit again since 9/11. But go back through the last 5 years and listen to all of the Dems when they talk about the war. All they ever want to do is get out and run. They are cowards of the highest order, and what they have said borders on treason in many cases, especially Murtha, Reid and Pelosi's comments. All should be arrested and indicted, and the fact that they have not been is a slap in the face to every soldier past and present who has defended this country. We need a timetable for withdrawal and cessation of military action, but that timetable must be designed in such a way that we only pullout when Iraqi troops are ready to take on the mission of their own national security. When this country gets into a war, the military should be given the freedom to engage the enemy decisively and without restriction. Sometimes kicking a little *** is a necessary thing.

I was talking to my brother yesterday who is deployed on his second tour in Iraq. He was telling me how much different it is there now compared to 2006. From what he tells me the Iraqi Security Forces are taking the lead in almost every operation and patrol. He said he has to remind himself constantly that he is in potential danger because things seem much more peaceful now. So this news doesn't surprise me, it's called progress and it's what happens when a war has been won.

Once you have won, why keep the troops there? We have more wars to fight and win. The war against evil, racist, unholy, bigoted, murdering, Islamic fundamentalist, terrorists is not over.

Bush wants the credit. He is the worst President we've had since Jimmy Carter.
