False. Why? I'm too lazy to give an answer to each one individually.

I'm no theologan, but I will give my opinions.

    1. True. Values change, that's just how it works. A few thousand years ago, a Roman citizen would take his 5 year old son, give him a short sword, and teach him how to kill, using his least useful slave as practice. That was not only okay, it was considered a vital part of Roman citizenship! Heck, it wasn't that long ago that we considered Cocaine to be a cure-all, that women shouldn't be allowed to have a voice in politics, that it was okay to lynch black people who displeased you, and other nonsense.

Traditional values are often backwards and primitive. they change.

    2. I agree with that.

    3. Welfare system is messed up, when it should be finding work for people, it punishes them for working. It needs an overhaul, right now all it does is keep people dependent.

4 & 5. I'm fielding these two together. I despise both sides of the abortion debate, they both are deplorable. I call them Pro-death and Pro-tyranny.

    6. Yeah, the self-esteem thing was a huge mistake. Psychology is a new science, it needs lots of work. Kids are idiots, and need to be slapped every so often.

    7. I agree, but I'm going a different direction with it. If Bush messes up, that's technically all our faults, we elected him. However, we didn't elect all the special interest groups and big businesses that run the country now. Those people shouldn't be allowed to have a say.

    8. That's been our case since the formation of our nation. You know, the part where we wiped out an entire race of people because they were living on some prime real estate? Yeah.

    9. I don't see where that's the case, I think I have a different definition of profanity than the minister.

    10. This is similar to 1. Washington owned slaves and grew pot. Jefferson raped his slaves then disowned his own offspring. Franklin made Bill Clinton look like a eunuch when it came to sexual matters. People who talk about time-honored values are looking at history through rose-colored goggles.

    1. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

false. many people are spiritual and/or have good values.

    2. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

false. people with less money are more susceptiblele to risk. it's

    a choice.

    3. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

    absolutely.

    4. We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

    yes.

    5. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

    false.

    6. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

true. if a child does poorly at something they should do well at,

    they need to know it.

    7. We have abused power and called it politics.

false. those who think power is being abused by politicians need

to get up and do something themselves. you let these people rule

    and complain about it.

    8. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.

    it's true, we do.

    9. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of __expression.

    1. False. I would think soceity's "values" are getting stronger as more and more people get basic human rights.

    2. False. I don't see how the lottery exploits the poor. It's not restricted to the poor nor is it mandatory.

    3. False. Welfare is not made up of 'lazy' individuals. There are some people who actually NEED our help. It's our job to provide that. Yes, there are some bad apples.

    4. False. "We" have done nothing. It is up to the woman to make the choice for herself. Don't like abortions, don't get one.

    5. False. Some see it as justifiable, not all.

    6. False. The lack of self esteem does not correlate with that child's discipline.

    7. False. Abusing power is not limited to politics. Plus, we have a say in who we pick.

    8. False. Ambition can be a good thing. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, why do you care what someone's goals are?

    9. False. Profanity isn't "pollution". If you don't like hearing it, remove yourself.

    10. False. As the world becomes more educated, the world becomes a better place. Slavery used to be normal, I'm glad times have changed.

I agree with Melissa, this is too long. . .but I'll read it. . . .

    1. true - most public places are nonreligious and allow no spiritual anything.

    2. false - some people are poor because it's their own fault.

    3. TRUE - all the immigrants and foreigners gets all the benefits they don't deserve. True for natives also.

    4. TRUE - I do NOT believe in abortions, because it is murder. If you didn't want a baby, you shouldn't get pregnaunt.

    5. false - they deserved it

6.true- children need punishment and correctment. If you don't believe me, just take a look in history. Hasn't things gotton alot worse when it was done away with?

    7. true - Power has went to many politicans' heads.

    8. true and false - some people do, some don't. About half of them it really is ambition, but the other half it is coveting.

    9. True - It used to be against the law to cuss on the radio. Now you can say anything just about anywhere. It's rediculous

    10. True - I don't really have an explanation for that.

    I hope I've enlighted you :-)

A truly enlighted individual would spend time helping those in need of food and shelter instead of judging what others are doing.

This blurb has been circulating the web under different authors. Read the link below.

BTW, our forefathers destroyed a culture with death and deception and went to war when not a single one of their family members life was at risk beforehand. Then they only gave "democracy" to white males. So any improvement over that behavior is definitely more "enlightened" than they.

Seems as though it was written by a 'religious' apologist trying to touch ALL bases, so he won't be called a sectarian bigot by ANYONE. He fails.

Perhaps if he had changed all the "WE" to "I", he would be found more acceptable. LOL

Any one who has to include everyone else in his own shortcomings is close to becoming a religious fanatic. Avoid him.

Why does he not state the obvious:

    "We have become anti-Semites"

    "We have become anti-Muslims"

    "We embrace racism,

    isolationism,

    anti-immigrationism,

    homophobia,

    Xenophobia,

    elitist- sectarianism"

All in the name of our God.

That would make much more sense, and been a helluva lot closer to the truth. . LOL

Mostly false. These seem to be a very one sided look at society without a understanding of the actual issues.

I'm not ready to throw in the towel.

We still have our US Constitutional freedoms and many attorneys fighting for them.

    Some Americans--true. Some Americans--false.

I agree with everyone of those statements.

We have slowly, but surely, turned our thoughts, goals, and aspirations toward the "self" as opposed to helping others. Our apathy is finally backfiring on us and we are witnessing and having to live with the consequences.
