What does Obama avoid answer tough questions?

I am admittedly not an Obama supporter, I was actually rooting for Clinton, but why does Obama continue to dodge the tough questions? On one interview, he was directly asked about his thoughts on abortion and he said "I cannot answer that question with any "specificity" because it is above my pay grade."   Maybe he thinks that is funny or clever, but he flat out does not answer the question. I mean if he won't answer how will people know what he really believes in. I mean, I get it, he wants everyone to believe he is for CHANGE. But funny thing is change means different things to different people. And for those that do not ask, they will get taken in the end. Obama purposefully avoids answering the tough questions, he is too afraid to take a side on any issue. If he took a side someone would end up being upset. But do people really want to let him get the job without taking a stance. I mean, what if you thought he agreed with a majority of your issues, but then found out after the fact that the one issue, you would never budge on, he is the exact opposite on. For instance, if you are for gay marriage and found out after he was in office that he supported legislation against gay marriage how would you feel. It's 2008, don't you think even Obama supporters should be speaking up and asking the tough questions of him? What are your thoughts, will his lack of experience, race dropping habits, and failure to answer the tough questions shock people when it is too late.?

I'm Responding to jack.hag. Ford-republican got us out of Vietnam not Carter, Kennedy-Dem. Got us into Vietnam. Bush 1 was Desert Storm when countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait asked for our help, with the support of the United Nations. Clinton -Dem Bosnia and he bombed Iraq and Afghanistan. Don't they teach History in school anymore or are you just not paying attention?

The 'pay grade' comment was a tiny aside in a lengthy and thorough answer.  

Abortion is a complicated issue with many variables.  Any federal mandate will lead to brutal circumstances.  That is why Obama goes into detail when expressing his careful and responsible view.  McCain just says all abortions are illegal.  That means rape, incest, medical horrors, whatever.  Abortion should not be used as birth control, and Obama will do more to prevent and manage unwanted pregnancy with education and adoption.  McCain has an adopted black child, but he voted against these outreach programs because he's a typical corrupt Senator and Big Health didn't want to lose revenue.  So expect fewer abortions under Obama, and under McCain?  A supreme court that brings back the days of the coathanger.

In it's most basic form, the president is supposed to uphold the constitution. The constitution says it is legal to have an abortion. He shouldn't have to answer it because it is a non-issue.
The democratic party believes in peace and people.

The repblican party believes in war and big business. Here is the proof.
The oil companies made 150 billion dollars in PROFITS last year and Mcsame wants to give them 39 billion in tax cuts.
Obama wantys to use that 39 billion dollars to create jobs in America to pursue alternative forms of power (clean energy.

Now, let me give you a quick run down about the recent past.

Nixon - republican-escalates the Viet Nam war and has a private war in
                            cambodia that Americans didn't know about.
Carter - Democrat-gets us out of Viet Nam and avoids war with Iran
Regan- republican- Grenada
Bush 1-republican- Gulf storm
Clinton-Democrat- 8 years of peace, prosperity and world respect
Bush 2- republican Afghanistan, Iraq, and is threaening Iran.

Why don't you answer the abortion question about when life begins?

Obama is the first candidate with the guts to leave the metaphysical questions to other people.  He answers the tough questions well and with thought and intelligent responses.  

You are being very unfair to him, I hope you get to see more of him to realize how he does stand up and answer the tough questions.

I'm not sure what you're talking about.  Obama is PRO CHOICE. He's said this repeatedly.  He's said he is not in favor of gay marriage but thinks it should be a state decision and would support civil unions.
