Wherever Paul lives must be rich to be able to allow passengers to board free. Here, everyone pays. Sure, there are reduced rates for students and the elderly, but everyone pays.
Anyway, to answer the question: Yes, I'd give up my seat. Doesn't matter what the person's skin color is. The elderly have paid their dues to society, it's only fair that as a younger person I show them respect. I don't sit in the front of the bus anyway, but if an older person made it to the back of the bus without anyone giving up their seat, I'd willingly give mine.

Of course. In NY, NJ, CT, I always give my seat.
For example, I sometimes get on busiest Long Island Bus Route N6 which is always crowded on 1-hour trip. N6 operate with 2 or 3 people behind the white line, making hard for someone to move on. If I see elderly or pregnant women, I give up my seat to them if I could move to allow them to seat.

As a fare paying passenger, i would use my judgement. If i felt any over 60 could capabley stand, then I would NOT give up my seat, as I pay, and they don't. I would only give it up it the person didnt look able of standing.
It might sound unfair, but with Arriva's bus fares being so high, i don't want to stand, and let someone who doesnt pay have my seat!

Not yet, but if ever that happened I'll just let them sit. I am a grown up man and should set a positive example. After all I was a boy scout and I still am a boy scout.

Only person I wouldn't offer my seat to is a guy who looks like they're in better shape than me. Always offer to women, older people... etc..
