I have ceramic tile on my floors and the last owner put wax on them, is there a way to remove the old wax, with out harming me or my pets?

Most home improvement stores sell wax remover. I have never used it, however, so you should read the label if you are concerned about harmful fumes to you and your pets. Maybe if you contact a local company that installs ceramic tile floors, they might direct you to something that would work for you, without the harmful side effects.

No, it's just not a good idea, because of the following reasons. If the original tile was not laid properly, in other words, pieces could have air gaps under them, then when enough weight is on the tile above it, both could crack. Then you have to fix both. There may be previous other damage, hidden by the existing tile, such as water damage, mold, termites in the under flooring, etc. No floor is truly level, so there may be areas that 'dip'. Again, placing a tile over a tile in such an area, would eventually lead to cracks.

they sell like a wax stripper product. You have to be careful with it and keep you pets off the floor but it's easy to use. They sell it at any home improvement store. Just test it in a corner before you do the whole floor.
