Anyone have a Child with reflux?

Any parents out there with a child with reflux? My eight year old has this condition and I was curious if anyone here on YA had suggestions or ideas to help her out.

My little brother has bad reflux. He is 16 and he takes Prevacid every day. The doctor can prescribe it for your child. She is not too young, because they prescribe it for babies. You may also want to steer clear of feeding her anything with red sauce (spaghetti, pizza) and tell her to chew her food thoroughly.

Well, my daughter had it when she was a baby, she is 22mos now and i haven't noticed to be a big problem. Have you talked to your pediatrician about it? I'm sure you could give him Tums for now if it's really bothering him, until you can get to the doc. Also, stay away from spicey foods, pizza, and anything with too many preservatives.

My understanding of this is reflux in newborns is the result of an immature esophogus. Once it has developed, it wont be a problem anymore. My niece had this problem, it took until 6 months to go away. Just keep up with the burping a little longer, it will help her to improve more. Think of it like when we get sick. If you have that acidy feeling in your throat, it makes it more sensitive. Keep it at bay by burping more and also use Mylicon gas drops. workds wonders for gassy babies and spitting up. It helps settle their tummies so things are digested properly.

OMG am i. My son has it.but had it REALLY bad when he was newborn and infant..we were in and out of hospital..he had to see a pediatric gastrologist* he was on medicane but then taken off..bc the gastro said new research shows that when children are on medican it is only holding it down.but when they eventually get of meds that its WORSE..he sed they need to grow out of. The lesser milk the better..we had to switch from formula to formula to formula. he was finally on soy that worked..so maybe ur child would benifit with soy? its easier to digest... After eating make sure they stay up..don't let him lay down..just see your doctor and get diffrent advice..my 1st doc sed nothing was wrong with him..so get different opinions
