Why would a non-christian wear a cross?
Some other question about wearing a cross made me think- you see crosses in every style, from goth to gansta to bejeweled... and everyone wearing them.
WHY would a non-christian want to wear a cross?

I will have to agree with first person.
The symbol of the cross originates from the pagan symbol to represent the sun. It was used later by the catholic religion to combine the pagan religion with Christianity, changing the Sun God being the pagan God into the Son of God being the Nazarene. Its my belief that Jesus was a truly powerful man in matter and a higher spirit who had came to the material world to show us how to live but unfortunately his truth was lost in translation and the amount of corruption from the mass that have created the bible in the dark of there lack of understanding. I do not deny there are many truth but I am sure that buildings and churches are not needed to find the Great Spirit you only need to look within yourself and you will find it the and within everything you see and touch.

Excuse me, but crosses are not strictly Christian...if you didn't know that already. I was given a cross by my mother 5 years ago right before she died [I'm 16 now], and I never take it off. But get this, I'M NOT CHRISTIAN! It just holds a place dear in my heart because it was given to her by HER mother, and it reminds me of her.
I guess you would really need to ask the person why they wear it. Maybe they do just wear it for fashion purposes, or maybe they think it makes them look cool. I donno what THEIR reason is, but I'm guessing there is a reason.
Cheers.

The cross isn't solely a Christian thing. It's been used in countless religions to mean countless different things. To the person who's wearing it, it could mean anything. Somebody could of given it to them, it could be someone close to them died and it was theirs, they could be Christian, pagan, or even a Knight of freakin' Malta. Sometimes they're just pretty!

A go necklace might want to be considered as symbolic religious accent - like are at modern-day being advertized on T.V. someone who's favourite with you aren't from now on a Christian might want to ask your self Why you're choosing to positioned on one. yet another trend accent might want to probable be extra perfect.

One of this forum's Christians is a dear friend. He sent me a cross two years ago, and I wear it daily as a reminder of his friendship, and how much he means to me.

Why would a christian sin? The cross is is a piece of jewelry-charm and necklace, why not. The father said he was a jealous GOD and to not worship idols. That includes crosses-something they killed Jesus on, for shame.

Christians weren't the first ones to use a cross.
