89 RX7 does not idle well?

its an '89 FC3S Rx-7 turbo, it does not idle right and the second gear tends to grind. Does this have something to do with the ignition timing?

Could have something to do with timing. Sounds like it could also be an idle air control valve, mass air flow sensor, fuel injectors or anything else fuel or air related.

  • timing could be the problem but i have a simple question, have you ever over heated that engine, if you did , it need s to be rebuilt. rotory engines do not deal with hat that well.

Source(s): not a whole lot of them left to mess with but i still learned from a few
