Are you tired of hearing "His/her speech had no substance"?

Is anyone else tired of hearing the "no substance to their speech" on either side? We're talking about National Conventions here which I now know are for introducing your candidates and attacking your opposition, nothing more really. Neither side had substance of details on what they plan to do, so can we drop this? I imagine both sides are saving their guns of explicit details on issues for future speeches and debates. You've got two months to hear the real stuff, so quit complaining about what you didn't hear from who you're not voting for anyway.

Update:

yea, we did watch the same speech, I myself thought it had substance, but I'm talking about everyone claiming they didn't hear it because it's not their party, their party is better, yours doesn't have substance...maybe you don't see all these claims, but it makes me sick.

Update 2:

example "cee cee"

can we outline what Obama did any better in his speech, and let's not forget McCain hasn't spoken yet

Stop already.

Her speech consisted of insults and *** kissing, oh yeah and did you guys know that John Mccain was a POW? Gee I guess the first million times it has been said hasn't sunk in for me....Come back to me when the issues are actually discussed. By the way I'm voting for Bob Barr because he is the only one with the balls to actually discuss what he's going to do for America. You people are sheep.

Were you not paying attention to Senator Obama's speech. He outlined specifically what he intends to do on many issues. There was only one issue Gov. Palin addressed and that was the energy issue. After the first oil crisis 3 decades ago the democratic party started and has been trying ever since to make energy a major focus and part of mainstream American politics. The republican party, backed by the oil industry, fought tooth and nail against alternative energy. Al Gore, campaigned on the issue 8 years ago and no one took him seriously - now look where we are. If you have been paying attention the last 8 months the republican party never cared about going green or alternative forms of energy. During the primaries not one of them spoke about the need for alternative energy until the price of gas sky rocketed. Now they was to be the alternate energy champions? Listen to the Obama speech again and listen for the outlines of what he plans to do. Of course you won't get details - the last three times Obama detailed his ideas they were stolen by the Bush administration - talking to enemies, military raids in Pakistan and the timetable on Iraq.

Source(s): TG you are lying about Senator Obama's health care plan and policy. If you all will recall during the primaries he and Hillary had major differences in how to implement an all inclusive health care policy. Obama's plans to create competition among drug companies and health insurance companies for contracts with the U.S. government, as a result of the competition and ability to negotiate drug cost would reduce the overall expense of healthcare. That is a capitalist based plan. And I thought you were the expert!! Regarding the cutting tax thing - wrong again. McCain has never said he will cut taxes. What he has said is that he would keep the tax cuts the Bush administration instituted. Tax cuts that are aimed at the top 5% income earners in the country, not anyone making less than $5 million annually. McCain also wants to privatize health care and social security and let the market take care of how much it will cost, no regulations or restrictions. Regarding Palin supposed waste cutting record - McCain has a list of earmarks he felt over the years were outrageous, there were 3 from the state of Alaska and guess who the mayor was that sponsored them - that's right Mayor Palin. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,242...

Did we watch the same speech? I think she pretty clearly explained what they are going to do...and also explained how Obama will not accomplish what he wants to do in a way that is good for America.

One of Obama's top goals is to establish government healthcare (kind of a nice way to say socialism). Ask Obama to explain how he is going to pay for that? I have yet to hear a credible argument for this from a liberal. The answer...higher taxes...but I thought he was going to bring us out of a recession? I'm no economics professor but isn't that kind of backwards?

On the other hand, Palin and McCain have both explained that they are going to cut government spending by reducing government waste (with veto power if necessary as she said last night). She also said they are going to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, which WILL help American families and businesses.

That's one talking point...there are many others where McCain and Palin have a clear, understandable, realistic plan. Obama has ideas, but not real substance or plan. Get real bro.

Economy, economy, wah wah. Sarah Palin's job last night was to introduce herself to the American people, show her support for McCain and attack the dems. All of which she did an outstanding job at.

McCains job tonight is to talk about issues, show his support for the GOP and the country and attack the dems. All of which I'm sure he'll do quite well.

You want to hear about the economy watch campaign speeches and debates( that is if Obama gets the courage to debate anyone) .That is the purpose of campaigning not the convention.

All these speeches are right now are pep rally speeches for their party. There is no one to attack/defend as of right now til the actual debates happen.
