Roman Catholics, since when was "Love one another" the motto of your denomination?

My great-aunts and -uncles discriminated my grandfather and grandmother for leaving the Roman Catholic set of beliefs. The discrimination extended to my uncles, aunt, and mom, and even the generation next to them.

So when did the "Love one another" started in your midst? Do you also include non-RCs to that rule?

Update:

doublequinella: I wish there was blueberry here. I just cant help that sometimes, I keep on wondering about it.

Update 2:

Shlane: It's J-u-n-s-e-i-n-a. And you actually thought that I hold a grudge on the whole of Roman Catholicism?!

This question has been baffling me about those relatives' treatment to our family every Christmas/New Year reunion. -_-"

    Someone's feeling resentful.

Would you like some breakfast? I have some really good blueberry pancakes.

Hope you feel better. . .

<<Roman Catholics, since when was "Love one another" the motto of your denomination?>>

    Since Jesus.

    Again, it started with Jesus.

    CHILL OUT!

Just because your family were mistreated by misguided Catholics doesn't mean we're all like that.

So you're holding a billion or so Catholics responsible for your relatives' narrow-mindedness, and assuming all of us would have treated your grandparents the same?

There's plenty of acrimony among Protestants and Catholics going both ways, and yet the commandment to love one another is common to both. It should come as no surprise to you that not everyone lives up to that expectation.

Are you judging the entire Catholic Church based on a couple of bad examples? This is called stereotyping and this bad logic can lead you to make some very bad decisions.

We have "loved one another" since we were instructed to do so by Jesus Christ.

    With love in Christ.

it's always been that way. unfortunately there are some people who just don't get it like your aunts and uncles. No offense meant but sometimes when someone leaves one faith for another people tend to get rude without hearing that person's side. and yes it also goes for Non-Catholics as well.

so because YOUR family did it, that means that all Roman Catholics do it?? Gotcha!! I'll send the memo to the rest!!!

Roman Catholics have to "Hate one another" according to the Book of Junsenia. Is that better??

I feel sorry for what you went through, but if you need to point a finger point it towards YOUR family.

"Love one another" was a command that came from Jesus Christ. It has always been a part of the theology of the Catholic Church.

Sadly, not everyone who professes to follow Christ always obeys Him.

Forgive as Jesus forgave. Forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Ever since Jesus Christ founded The Church almost 2000 years ago.

"love one another" is a Christian directive - to ALL Christians.

I am sorry that your aunts and uncles behaved that way, but it wasn't Catholicism that made them do it - they chose to act that way. The choices of individuals.
