I want to adopt a 15 year old boy he is a really good student, but him and his family don't have papers. Can I?
He got here from mexico about 7 years ago. I want to know if i can adopt him and if I can, does he have to live with me or can he stay with his family? I just want to make it easier for him to follow his dreams and accomplish his goals. He does good in school and he plays sports like football and track. I really wish to help this family and i will appreciate questions with respect.

Why can't you just help this family. Why do you need to adopt their SON? I feel like there is a lot more to this. a LOT more.

well his family could turn custody over to you which is what would have to happen. But if they aren't legal citizen's it becomes a pretty complicated issue. And you'd have to be checked over by children's social services to assure you would provide a proper home. Yes, he'd have to live with you. His parents would have to be in Mexico with him at the time because they would investigate into this and if they are here illegally they could be deported once the investigation opens.
If you really want to help the kid out I'd say a better option would be to look into helping them get a temporary visa and then helping them get full citizenship from there instead of trying to adopt him. And you can offer financial assistance to him and his family if you and they are comfortable with it.
