I used packing tape on my dryer vent hose, to keep it on. Will it melt?

It says on the package that this tape holds up to heat, but I'm assuming it just means a hot day. I don't have any duct tape, either. So I'm wondering if the packing tape will hold up or not.

The hose won't stay on the end coming out of the wall, I think its a tiny bit bigger than normal, because I've always had this problem. And when I had my boyfriend look at it, he had the same problem. So I think tape is the best way to go to keep it on. (yes, I have those metal grip circle things.... they don't help.)

Most likely won't catch fire. Heat source isn't hot enough. You need a clamp that goe's around it. Home depot and ask someone in that department. The tape will dryrot off anyways.

The foil kind that is used for heating ducts will work very well. It's expensive as tape goes but you'll probably use some when you replace the hose anyway. The duct tape which has the fibres in it, well, I don't know, it might depend how far from the dryer it is because the heat might soften the adhesive. It shouldn't catch fire or anything but may not last well.

YES!!!!!! remove it now sister! That will melt for sure and you will not like the result. Basically the reason why the fire regulation says use the metal flexi hose and it should be accessible for cleaning to prevent fire from lint accumulation. your packaging tape will only add hazard. invest in a roll of vent tape.

Like they said, you will have problems. Standard way to do this is with a zip tie or hose clamp and then foil-back tape. If it is a hard pipe install and not flex pipe, you just use foil-back tape.

I would say yes, it will melt. You need to ge that silver colored tape to use on dryer vents. I am sure that Loews or Home Depot has it.
