What are your personal feelings on Gay Marriage?

I want to know your own personal feelings on gay marriage. Should it be legalized? Should they be able to adopt children? I want to know what you believe, not what your party says.

For all those wondering, I'm all for gay marriage. I think that Family Guy said it best "what gives two straight people who absolutely hate each other more of a right to be together than two gay people who love each other" If its the whole family thing and not being able to have children. I'm sure there are so many gay couples out there who want to have children so bad, that they would give any child a loving home to go to and give it all the support, love and attention that child needs to grow. There are so many children who are abused in foster homes and from parents of straight people, a gay couple would give them so much love and attention (Not that I'm saying that all straight people are horrible child abusers) And isn't that all that matters, is if the child is love, and the whole point of marriage is to be with someone that you love and want to spend the rest of your life with.

Personally, it is against my religion.

However, my religion is MY religion, and my beliefs are MY beliefs. Everyone is entitled to their own religion, their own belief systems, their own opinions. I'm against abortion on a personal level, but I know that not everyone is. There are plenty of people who believe in it, and I think those people have a right to it. And I think those people who believe in gay marriage have a right to it also. They are people to, and if that is what they decide, then what does it matter? Who are they hurting? No one. As for adopting children, I think they should be able to adopt. All I child needs is love, not heterosexual parents. My religion says men and women should raise a child as a family, but that's my religion. I also know that the reality is that there are a lot of single parents out there, foster parents, adoptive parents, etc. that often do a better job than biological married parents. All it takes is love to raise a child, not a certain gender situation. I agree it would probably be very hard to deal with that as a child though, and there may be some teasing from having 2 daddies or 2 mommies, but that could also make the child stronger. Also, scientific studies show that having gay parents doesn't make a child lean towards being gay, although some people still mistakenly believe that.

At the end of the day, I believe marriage within my religion is between a man and a woman. But we aren't talking about them marrying within my religion, we are talking about them being legally married with the state. And the church and the state should be kept solidly separate, so my religious beliefs should have NO bearing on it. I think it should be legal, even though I think it is religiously wrong for me, because everyone is entitled to their own belief system, as long as they are not harming anyone. It isn't going to make the world fall apart!

My religious beliefs tells me that Gay marriage is wrong, but as a

human I respect all humans, and if I knew a gay couple that was

married I would treat them just like any other couples that are

married. I have known and do know gays and lesbians and they are

just like anyone else . The only one that can be the judge of weather

or not they are doing right is God , so I will let him be the judge of it

and in the meantime I will still treat them with respect as I would

    want them to treat me.

We should encourage gay people to be just as unhappily married as us straight people - why should they get all the fun? LOL. Seriously, I'm perfectly ok with gay marriage and gay adoptions. People don't "catch" gay or "catch" straight. I feel that this is just something people are born to just as we are born straight. So what? If it helps, think of it as a handicap. (don't mean to offend there so hear me out before you think anything...). What I mean by that is people are born deaf, blind, one legged, one armed, unable to walk, or whatever. We would never, ever even consider not allowing them to adopt a child or get married, right? Well, gay people are just born different. So what? Get over it. Lots of wonderful needy children out there without good homes that would just love to be with a couple that would cherish them. I say only good can come from legalizing gay marriage and allowing adoptions. Another way to look at it is, how would a gay couple's marriage hurt you in any way whatsoever? It sure wouldn't make my marriage any less legal or valid or moral? Now, I do think that it's up to each church to decide whether or not to allow gay marriage. It's their right to allow or not allow. But, the question here is about the government's involvement in it.

    Thanks.

What two consenting adults do in private is their business. It doesn't hurt anybody. Gays are as human as any of us and can live normal productive lives and have healthy relationships with partners and children. I say let them get married and adopt.

The people against it should move on. Even if you are morally opposed to gay marriage, find something more important to fight, like domestic violence or world hunger. Seriously.

I think marriage should between two adults who love each other and want to enter into that legal relationship, regardless of gender.

That legal registration of relationships should apply to parties regardless of gender; then people who wish to have their marriage recognised religiously can have a separate ceremony in their church or wherever.

I think that it should be legal. They deserve to have the legal rights that comes with being married. For ex I knew a guy that had been with his boyfriend for 5 years. The bf's family had disowned him (b/c he was gay) years before the 2 of them had even gotten together. One night the bf who was just in his 30's had a heart attack. My friend was not allowed to go into the hospital room to see him b/c the family was vindictive and said no. His bf died that night and he never even got to say goodbye! AND then the a$$hole family came and took all his stuff away too! Now I'm sorry...but I don't care if you agree with being gay or not...but that is just not right! And had they been allowed to get married it wouldn't have ever happened!

BTW....I'm a republican (who has a gay bf)...and I think this is something that my party NEEDS to address!

I think that gays should have the same thing as a marriage, but called something else. And they should absolutely be able to adopt. Theyre humans too! A gay couple is the same as a regular couple. Seeing a trashy straight couple making out on the sidewalk grosses me out the same amount as if they were both the same gender. Although, bisexual people kinda bug me. They seem to be just attention hungry.

Let it be. The most important thing is happiness. If two people are happy, then what business do you or I have to say that it's "not right"? And, what harm is it doing? None. There's so much more that we should be concerned about. When homosexuals become an organised gang problem, then we can re-think this. Until then, let's be worried about real problems.

Personally I don't mind if they marry as long as they don't live close by, don't teach my kids, don't serve me in the store, don't show affection when I am around because it grosses me out. So I guess I really don't support it at all!

If you have any religious faith at all, you would find a problem with gay marriages.

God created Adam and Eve NOT Adam and Steve! It`s wrong and will be punishable by the fire of Hell according to the word of God. It says in the bible. God will not be mocked.
