Wedding Flowers for Past/Present Brides?
If you had or will have a florist do your flowers, what was/is your budget or what did you get for your money? Just trying to get an idea of what others have spent on their florist.
I'm in shock that flowers are so expensive!
Thanks in advance! (Will award best answer for 10 points)

When I got married in 2003,my budget was $1200. And I got what I wanted, which was 3 colors of roses for bouquets and centerpieces (8 tables) and ceremony decor with roses filled out with berries and orange/red Gerber daisies and greenery....it was a fall wedding.
My friend got married this past june and she paid $2000 for everything including 10 table centerpieces, ceremony trellis, bouquets and boutonnieres, corsages (total of 2 bridesmaids, 3 groomsmen, 1 grandmother, 2 mothers, 2 fathers, 2 officiants). Her bouquet alone was nearly $400 though...she had maiden hair ferns with lilies of the valley, which are super expensive, with vendalla roses (creamy off white). It was all amazingly gorgeous. She had to use the florist for her venue, though, so that did make the pricing a little different.
Flowers are expensive, but my best advice is to pick 1 or 2 flowers you love that are in season and have your florist design around them. The less types of flowers you have the lest cost. And, picking things in season also helps.
Congrats and good luck!

I'm in CT and the average bridal bouquet I do is $150, the average bridesmaid bouquet is $75, average corsage is $25, average boutonniere is $10, altar arrangements typically $100-$150, and centerpieces anywhere from $25 each (floating flowers and candles) to $100+ each. Hope that helps a bit. Your local florist should be able to give you some similar estimates for your area. Good luck, I may be biased, but I think fresh flowers are always worth it! ;-)

Hello. I spent about $750 on my flowers. However, we later got smart. For the last 4 family weddings, we have bought roses from Costco or Sam's Club, and then bunched the roses together with a ribbon around them - for the bride we used white roses, and more of them; and then we did the same arrangement for the bridesmaids. Gorgeous, simple & affordable!
I recommend carefully thinking about who needs flowers at your wedding - so that you don't leave anyone out, and so you can properly plan your budget.
Here is a list of everyone you will want to think about when putting together your flower list.

Good luck! Flowers are always money well spent.

I went with a local florist, and she was amazing. Total was just over $700. My bouquet was big, a handtied European bouquet with a big variety of flowers in our colours (lilac, pink, yellow and teal), so there were roses, carnations, mums, alstromeria, stargazer lily, and others. The four attendants had smaller versions of my bouquet.
Also, the boutonnieres for the men were mini carns, and some corsages of sweetheart roses. Two big floral arrangements we used at the church, then at the head table at the reception.
It was well worth the money to have beautiful fresh flowers!

I used a silk flower.I was able to save a ton of money and get what i wanted.I had my heart set on calla lillie's and the florists wanted $10-$15 per flower, not arrangement, per flower.I told her I would be going to Michael's craft store.Florists will steal your money.I hope you can find some alternatives for your budget.I had to but about 40 flowers total and I only spent about $60 compared to $400-$600.I got everything I wanted and the center pieces will never die.You know you spend all the money on them and your family just steals them anyway. It's ridiculous how family turns into thieves at weddings.

We spent $850, and we had pink roses, starfighter lillies, gerbera daisies and eucalyptus sprigs. That money got us:
-my bridal bouquet
-6 bridesmaid bouquets
-1 flowergirl flower crown
-1 groom bout
-6 groomsmen bouts
-2 usher bouts
-2 dad bouts
-4 mom/grandmother corsages
-1 tossing bouquet
-1 altar/unity candle arrangement
Our flowers were gorgeous. They were worth the money-everyone was saying they had never seen such amazing floral arrangements.

those are 2 of the costliest flora! i admire the Calla Lilly besides. My florist is throwing some in my bouquet at 9 greenbacks a chew. which isn't to undesirable. yet for a complete bouquet it ought to get provide up costly. i might seem to work out in case you will locate flora in season. you need to use fillers and have basically a number of your selection flora exhibiting. That way you shop funds and the lilly's and Orchids somewhat stand out. suitable good fortune and Congrats!!

I made my own 14 centerpieces with roses and candles
I bought rose petals at www.thegrowersbox.com
5 bouquets of roses and lilies
4 bouts
2 corsages
head table long centerpiece
I spent about $900
(however, i spent about a total of $50 per centerpiece ... but the flower part of it didn't cost me much)
My suggestion is to shop around - be willing to make your own centerpieces and or bouquets to save money
I wouldn't suggest silk flowers (they look fake to me) - if anything use fake flowers to decorate an arch or cake but not for your centerpieces or bouquets
Enjoy!!!

I had an evening ceremony at my Church so I contacted the lady that had the afternoon booked and we both chose the flowers and split that part of the bill. For the reception I did one single lily per table. For the bridesmaids small nosegays and for myself yellow carnations with a few roses in the the center.

I was on a huge budget so I had to go cheaper. I got a gorgous boquet of Lilly's and roses for about $45.00 and had each of my ladies holding a single rose with some decorations for about $10.00 each. I didn't buy anymore flowers since I feel bad letting them die and spending lots of money I could use elsewhere. Nobody even noticed. =)
Oh yea and I had the Mothers wear red roses and the grandmothers wear yellow (about $10.00 each too) and the men each had a rose.
