I'm not quite sure what you are asking of us here, but I shall offer an opinion anyway. To me, you sound like a very well adjusted young lady! From the childhood that you described, very few would turn out the way you have described. Many people from disadvantaged backgrounds are bitter and resentful for their 'lot in life', however you seem to realize that you can only make your life happier but becoming a better person. As for not working to you potential, perhaps you just need to remind yourself why you wish to get into nursing. Is it because you want to help people? To ease pain? To be with someone in the hardest moments of their lives? Find what motivated you in the first place and your passion will come back. As for 'past mistakes', especially this boyfriend you described, forget them! The home you were raised in only has an impact on your life if you let it. Don't let other people force you into a stereotype! If you feel that your family truly is damaging your emotional development, than by all mean, move in with someone who will support you, your Aunt Mary sounds like the perfect candidate. Have some compassion for you mother and sister though, remember that they have had a hard life as well, and may be jealous of your ability to rise above it. Good Luck!
