There's a perfect solution for your lazy cat problem. LASER LIGHT TOY. My kitten goes totally crazy with those. Even when shes sleeping ands he hears me jingle the keychain on the light toy, she gets up and starts looking around for it. And its GREAT exercise. He will probably run after it for hours and hours.
If you do not have time to buy it you can get your cell fone and shine it from the sun which will cause a reflection. Your cat will go crazy with that too.
Good luck!
oh and try getting catnip and see if he goes hyper when he smells it or eats it.

It sounds to me like she could possibly have a health issue. Sometimes an malfunctioning thyroid can play havoc with a cat's attitude, weight and activity. If you haven't had her checked out by your vet, then maybe it would be wise to start there. At 3.5 years old, she should show interest in life, food and activity.

Get a feeding mouse from a pet store and let it loose by your cat, it cant help but chase after it.
