I have a metal plate and screws in my arm. They've been there for awhile. Should I get them removed?
I wiped out on my bike about 10 years ago and busted up my arm. I needed surgery and they put in a plate and some screws. It hasn't bothered me until now. It seems to be sore at times especially when I use it a lot.

I'vee had a plate, rods and screws in my neck for 7 years and it never seem worth it to go through having them removed. The recovery from the surgery to remove some of it just doesn't seem to be worth the little discomfort they cause to me,, but yeah when the weather changes it does hurt doesn't it. Good luck
LOL and yeah I think your doctor will know when you have them taken out,,, you weren't intending on taking a screwdriver to yourself were you???
And no they are not always intended to be permanent,, the plate on my spine could be removed if I wanted

I think it was intended as permanent.
Pain at the site of an earlier injury or trauma is common, however see a doctor.

you need to consult with a doctor before doing this because it maybe bad of you remove them and then the healing again.
