With the US Economy in such major trouble, is this issue now greater than Global Warming in this election?
Forbes "worst financial crisis since 1933"
Most of you are familiar with Global Warming, whether you agree or disagree with the science but most everyone can agree that reducing our dependency on fossil fuels is only going to become more and more important.
Now take into account what is going on recently with the economy...
These things being said in the last 24 hours by the top economic analysts..
"Once in century kind of phenomenon!"
"This is the financial storm of the century!"
"Congress must recapitalize FDIC immediately!"
"1 trillion at risk, FDIC can only cover $50 billion!"
"Wall Street is now at the mercy of Washington."
"America should be very worried!"
Note... not just this latest stock crash but take also into consideration...
U.S. NATIONAL DEBT CLOCK. The Outstanding Public Debt as of September 16, 2008 at 09:33:35 AM GMT
$9,691,574,311,578.56
Our debt is accumulating at 1.3 Million Dollars a minute!

>>>> So again I ask, which is the most important issue(s) and WHAT ADMINISTRATION WILL LIKELY BE BEST SUITED TO DEAL WITH IT after 2009?
Do you think the Bush Administration has done a good or poor job on these issues in the last 8 years?
(elboration)
With stock market crashes around the world and the US nearing a DOUBLE DIGIT Trillion Dollar Deficit (incredible isn't it? In less than six months, 10 million-million America will owe!)... Is this now the MOST important issue addressing the state of the economy (now and future, i.e. Social Security, etc.), or addressing the need to improve alternative cleaner energy (reducing carbon emissions, pollution, dependency on fossil fuels, taking a more assertive and leading role in future cleaner technology/energy market), or are they equally important. Or is neither as important as say keeping up with War in Iraq which many argue we shouldn't haven't even gone in Iraq in the first place, it has already cost us over a trillion dollars and counting, and will fall apart again anyways once we leave. I know the issue of gay freedom, gun freedom, abortion, healthcare reform, etc. are important to many people but those things are nothing right now compared to these other issues...
Answergirl, I disagree, the government and the next administration will have influence over the state of our economy. NOTE - if you're curious (this provides more information relative to this question)...
I posted three other questions on this in 'Current Events' and the last one an hour or so ago in 'Elections', includes a lot of good information and many great responses, one last night and earlier today...

In the minds of voters, the economy has always been a more important issue than global warming. Americans vastly underestimate the dangers posed by the latter, and in fact, as we have to spend more and more money dealing with the consequences of global warming, it will directly impact our economy.
Everyone knows that Bush was a complete disaster, whether or not they're willing to admit it. He did literally nothing to address global warming. He cut taxes, especially on the rich, during a time of war (and a completely unnecessary and unprovoked war, at that). Bush put us deeply into debt and did nothing to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
McCain has admitted he doesn't understand economics, and plans to make Bush's tax cuts on the rich permanent. Alan Greenspan recently said that McCain's economic plan will not work. McCain has also backed off his support for a mandatory carbon cap to address global warming.
Basically, on both global warming and the economy, Obama is right that McCain represents 4 more years of disasterous policies.

Like it or not, people just don't care about Global Warming . They tend to not want to believe in doomsday scenarios , even ones that are true , although of coarse - AGW is not . They also don't care about the economy , until it slips . Just so you know , the Democrat controlled Congress approves all spending . So , your question about which administration isn't the right one . It's a Legislative issue . The fact is , Government loves to spend money . They need to be cut off , NOW !
We must enact the FAIR TAX soon or we will tax and spend ourselves into the History books .

You need to do some reality reading about economics and how it works.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keynesian
is the pattern currently being followed that creates the bubbles and crashes because like most democrats they do not comprehend economics and that includes neo-cons!

Is a more realistic view of how an economy should function but is not centralized and so socialist minds do not like it.
The current crash was planned and structured just as every crash of the last 100 years has been in order to make the rich richer and the rest of us poorer.

And here is a simplified explanation of how the whole thing works.

Of course the current financial situation is far more serious than global warming. It does not matter who we elect--the administration cannot do anything about our economy, the bankers that be have complete control over that. Did you know that the federal reserve is a private bank and that it is never audited? You should go listen to some Lindsey Williams You-Tubes if you really want to know some things. God Bless The USA

You have postulated the negative which is the position of most Liberals. Now what good is there in America and how are you benefiting from it and how are you improving the life of all Americans. You have the words. What are your actions?

it always was... global warming was a much bigger issue in the paper.. but i don't' know of anyone that is likely to have voted that would vote based on global warming over economy
