I think it would be great to trade community service for college tuition. I've already graduated, but I see this a way of helping communities and educating the public. Your thoughts?

I think its a great idea. 1 of many great ideas, that should
be given a chance. If only given the opportunity.

I do like this idea.
I think it should also be carried over into instead of raising taxes to just give money to able bodied people that don't want to work or don't have an incentive to work because they are collecting money from the government (in some cases this is needed, but not in all. I believe some people can get stuck in the welfare cycle).
Incent individuals , who have jobs, to do community service (such as teaching a job skills, teaching someone how to read, teaching someone what to do in a job interview..etc..)to be an incentive for tax breaks for the time they spend doing community service plus helping someone else to become more self sufficient.
It's kinda like the old adage "Teach a man to fish" instead of just giving handouts this might inspire people to do more community service and actually help people in need and teach them the tools to get a better job etc....

One thing that I give Obama credit for is his education plan...I do believe that it is superior to McCain's. I have 2 degrees...fortunately I have a job that pays well and I am able to pay off the student loans with no problems. However, there are many families that do have these problems and it needs to be addressed before there isn't a graduating High School teenager who cannot attend a college. His community service plans, and his tax credit plans, in my opinion...are brilliant. I wish I could have done that when I started college...

It's sounds like a good plan, but how will the institutions make money? Tuition goes to pay the costs of services on campus such as health clinics, computer labs, libraries, research, etc. Would the government increase the amount of aide money they give universities if they did this? Overall it sounds good, but as with any social plan, there are things that need to be worked out so as not to harm the institutions.

Sounds good but we all know that things that sound too good usually are. Right now they both are saying what they believe ( advisers) will get votes- Watch the video from jib jab it tells it all.

It's great in theory, however, who would foot the bill?
Plus, what are THOUSANDS of kids per college going to do out in the community.

I serve my community, I paid for my own college and if he does this I want my money back!
