internet is slow but bar tells me its fast, why?

Two things:

First, the 100 Mbps is your computer's connection to your router/modem.

For the other information, you are not comparing equivalent units. Your download speed is limited to 64 kb/s, with a lower case 'b' for bits. Downloads in your browser are usually rated in bytes, usually (but not always) noted with an upper case 'B.' 6 kB/s is 48 kb/s. On top of the actual data you are transferring is some overhead. Every packet has a "header" which contains addressing information, plus there is handshaking going on. Your computer receives a packet of data from the sender, then responds with a packet stating that the packet was correctly received, and so on.

The bottom line is, you _are_ getting 64 kb/s.

Not entirely certain what you mean, but there will always be a discrepancy between your rated download speed and your actual download speed. Does this happen with everything you download or just from certain websites?

Sidenote: the 100MB connection status is the speed between you and your router (or modem) and other computers/devices hardwired to your network... not the speed you can expect when downloading from the internet. Even on a 100MB connection, you may download less due to other factors, such as software misconfiguration on your end or problems with the server from which you are downloading. Also keep in mind that a 100MB download speed would require you to have at least a fiber connection coming from your ISP, and you having the hardware to support it.

LAN and WAN speed are different. The LAN connection is not the internet speed. If you are downloading on p2p software you can only download as fast as the other peer can upload. Try downloading something from a site close to you and see the transfer rate then.

100mbps is the speed between your computer and your modem. The link that's going at 64kbps is between your modem and your provider. So your download speed can't be more than 64kbps, but the packets travel at 100mbps from the modem to your computer, which is all the network adapter can see.

100 Mbps is the maximum your network adapter can support, it has nothing to do with your actual connection speed.
