Hyundai Genesis or Nissan Maxima?
I am looking to buy a larger sedan later this fall. What do you think I should get, both are 2009 models:
1. Nissan Maxima with the premium and technology package, price $ 44800 Canadian plus taxes or,
2. Hyudai Genesis with the premium and technology packages, price $ 44,950 Canadian plus taxes.
They are both relatively the same price. I test drove both of them. I find the Genesis much smoother and quieter and I find the Maxima sportier. The genesis has a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty and the Maxima only a 3 year one. I am stuck, but I only have money for one of these...what one ?

The Genesis beat a Chrysler C300, BMW 550 and Mercedes E550 in a Motor Trend test this summer, so its definitely got the sport performance. Is this the V8 Genesis you are buying, if so its a no-brainer. Sounds like you prefer the Genesis, so go for it.

Smooth or Sporty. Which would you rather have. The new Hyundai is going after the Lexus, Benz and BMW luxury crowd while Nissan has always been about driving excitement.
I think the styling has lot to do with it too. Do you like the layout of the dash and the quality of the seating material. What about fit and finish? Paint colors and quality of the build. Crash test results, have you looked at those? I would also look at future value and the depreciation. Most Hyundais suffer from poor resale value but this new sedan may change all that. Are you willing to take that risk?

Maxima is well appointed and sporty, but the Genesis is more comfortable and refined. The Genesis' suspension is softer and handles exactly like a Large RWD Sedan Should. There is little understeer and a very firm but not overly stiff chassis. It's a good pick in my book.

The Genesis is a very cool and exciting new car from Hyundai, and is going to knock the socks off BMW, Lexus, and some others. The Maxima is not exciting at all. In my opinion, it is a clear choice -- Genesis.

I would have to say the Hyundai because of the 5 year warranty, If any thing goes wrong your covered for 5 years not just 3 years.
