I pasted links to some pictures below. Don't get bogged down in the size. A good baker can make suggestions to scale it down and still incorporate the design idea.
The flowers are made of gum paste, so make sure you ask your baker if they are experienced in this area. Ask to see actual pictures of cakes THEY have done, not stock wedding cake pictures they have printed and put in their display book.

There are all sorts of edible flowers available. Be sure to look for organic flowers (pesticides are not good for wedding cakes).
You can get candied violets and candied rose petals. Your baker ought to know where to get them. If not, do a search online.
I have also seen where you use a bundt cake mold to make your cake. In the center, place a small pot of flowers in the hole in the cake. This used to be quite popular at church events where bundt cakes reigned supreme. You can probably do something similar by cutting out holes in a sheet cake or round cake.

one idea i've heard of (and am sort of debating over myself), is having cupcakes instead of an actual wedding cake. I'm actually debating on having a small cake that we can actually cut into and feed each other, and then having a few tiers of cupcakes for everybody. Check out a lot of different cake shops before you decide anything.

I am a wedding coordinator part time and I have seen the tiered cup cake cakes.. they are really cool

i recommend a simple google search "simple wedding cake"
i just tried it out and there are tons and tons of styles to look at, all simple, many with tiny little flowers.
i also love the martha stewart website, under the "weddings" tab.
there are so many cakes to look at, all beautiful.
for starters, here are a few sites to take a look at:

i hope you like some of the ideas here.
remember, you can always print off different pictures of cakes that you like, bring them to your cake maker, and have them incorporate different elements of the cake into one that you love.
most people will do whatever they can to help you create your dream cake.
good luck on your search! :)

I wouldn't say the second cake is simple, but it certainly is unique. I'm making one for my sister's wedding on February.
