Yankee Stadium controversy ?

Im a bit lost on this one.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8597534/18-arre...

But it's alright for 'Whitey' Ford to put dirt in a cup from the mound on national tv and he doesnt get arrested?

Update:

So having the lowest ERA in the live ball era absolves him from mistermeanor crimes?

Update 2:

well, how can they prove the cup of dirt was from the pitchers mound at yankee stadium first, and second, if you read the article, they sited one guy that stole the base with also stealing a chunk of grass

Update 3:

so random jackasses want to steal things would happen to be the fans. whose more important to the organization, the players or the fans?

Update 4:

pipe is for people who cant commit. i prefer free basing or snorting, depends on the habit of the day.

Update 5:

i understand the difference between a cup of dirt and 3rd base, but apparently the police dont differenciate between some grass, which the guy with the base also had, and 3rd base.

Update 6:

Im sorry to have used your idol to prove a point, it was just something that everyone saw.

Update 7:

ok, my apologies, i thought it was whitey ford. either way, my premise still stands.

Update 8:

i agree. either everybody should be charged with the crime of stealing no matter who they are or what they took, or it should be let go and nobody punished, irregardless its being torn down

Whitey Ford won over 100 games on that mound. He has the highest winning percentage of any 20th Century pitcher and the lowest earned-run average of any starter in the post-1920 lively ball era. He's in the Hall of Fame. He's the greatest pitcher in Yankee history and one of the ten best pitchers who ever lived. When you get to that level, you can take some dirt from that mound.

A lot of the players took dirt from the field. Who cares? The difference is that they are PLAYERS (or former players) - not random jackasses who wanted to steal stuff. They had also announced numerous times that people would be arrested for stealing things from the stadium, so anyone who got arrested totally deserved it.

Also, if you can't see the difference between a cup of dirt (sentimental value) and 3rd base (monetary value) then I don't know what to tell you.

I don't see a major issue with it unless you see a "cup of dirt from Yankee Stadium" show up on Ebay for sale! You think Whitey needs the money? Maybe he does? They didn't get the big paper back in his era.

First of all, it was Don Larsen, not Whitey Ford, scooping dirt into a plastic cup. And he earned the right to get a penny's worth of dirt.

Now correct me if i am wrong here. the budling is being tore down who cares what people take?

stealing hte base is wrong i agree. everything eles i have no probelm with.

Why is grass its baseball dirt its not like the rip anything up. Its going to be a freaking parking lot.

police have better things to do than sit than and arrest people for lame crimes.

Source(s): LilyBian... -the point is law being unfair if everyone going to get trouble taking grass/dirt. players should as well.

Please, put the pipe down. You're obviously a little unstable.
