No, the only thing that would make more American mothers breastfeed is proper breastfeeding education and for them to have the want to breastfeed. If somebody wants to formula feed then that's fine too. As long as we're feeding our babies!

There are lots of tainted formula scares and recalls over here in North America they just seem to get caught quicker.

I don't know, but there have been so many recalls with so many things, spinach last year, tomatoes during the summer. Just because this is the United States doesn't mean that we can't have the same kind of formula problems that China is having. I mean, we also had all that high lead levels in all those toys (granted they came from China, but we let all those products in). I hope people will give breastfeeding a second thought. I recently heard of a study that showed that children who were breastfed for two years scored 7-10 points higher on an IQ test than children who weren't breastfed at all. Now there is something to think about.

Do you know how many formula recalls there have been in the US?

And its not exactly a secret how high the levels of aluminum, cadmium, silicone and other heavy metals are. Or the fact that many contain MSG. That, like many canned products, the can lining and therefore the liquid inside contain BPA.

Its also not exactly a secret that there are 200 forms of fiber in breastmilk that are not found in formula (except one brand has recently added 3). That's just fiber there are sugars, fats, immune factors, blah, blah, blah.

That even in the US babies more formula fed babies will not see their first birthday. Not to mention the unnecessary reproductive cancer women could avoid just by breastfeeding.

    Mortality

    * One sudden infant death for every 1000 live birth occurs as a result of failure to breastfeed in western industrialized nations.

    * For every 1000 babies born in the U.Ss each year, four die because they are not breastfed.

What? Baby Formula has been recalled? In fact, between 1982 and 1994 alone, there were 22 significant recalls of infant formula in the United States due to health and safety problems. Seven of these recalls were classified by the FDA as "Class I" or potentially life threatening.

And the problem doens't stop there. In the following we detail 9 recent recalls of formula. Recalls were made for all the well known companies, Nestle (Carnation), Abbott, Mead Johnson, Wyeth, Nutricia and more. Products were recalled for such things as contamination by Salmonella, Klebsiella Pneumoniae and bits of glass.

Some of the recalls were huge, the recall of jarred infant formala by Mead-Johnson contaminated with bits of glass covered more than 102,000 jars. Recalls noted below were made for such well known products as Alsoy, GoodStart, Isomil, Nutramigen and Soylac.

Hard to believe? Want to check out future recalls? You can get the information from where we got it: the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Their site for recalls

Breastfeeding is best anyway so that would be a good thing if people really knew what formula was made of they would be like i cant believe im feeding my child this unless its a natural formula i dont know but im not only concerned about there formula im concerned about formula feeding in general and if people do have to formula feed they should try and find a natural one if there is one out there.. but everybody has there own choices and every parent is a different parent but for me ofcourse..

No, because I feel confident that we have a lot more oversight in our food than China does. Anyways, feeding your baby formula isn't always something you have a choice about anyway. My milk production stopped at six months and I had to feed her something, but it wasn't by my choice.

No, because it has absolutely nothing to do with American formula. I formula feed my son and haven't been the least worried about this.
