Have you ever bought a refurbished computer?
I just ordered a Dell refurbished Laptop computer from the outlet store. I did a lot of research before buying a computer and someone told me about the site. It saves like $400 bucks but I'm just worried that it might not be as good as a new one. Have you ever ordered a refurb? If so, did you have a good experience? Please tell me if you were happy with your purchase - my computer will be here by Thursday.

I have a scratch & dent desktop and a refurbished laptop, then bought another refurbished laptop for my cousin. They work great and it's been over a year now since i purchased them. Also they look new, you won't be dissapointed. Then they all come with a 1 yr. warranty.

Actually I am the Director of IT for a company that covers 3 states and all we do is purchase refurb / used systems. The reason being is for a couple of reasons. Number one being we can buy 5 used / refurb systems for what it would cost us for 1 brand new system. We only do desktops as used or refurb we've never done laptops though. Thus far we have been very happy with the systems we've gotten.

I bought a refurbished Gateway about 10 months ago. I haven't had any hardware problems. Problems have been with Vista, which is easier to operate but, can be flukey.
So, I'm happy. I use my laptop at least 8hrs a day, so I guess it's proven a good computer.

thats kind of tricky to answer cause it depends alot on who you got it from. You can buy a brand new laptop that is total crap because the people making it have no business making laptops. If the people who refurbed it knew what they where doing then you should be very happy with it. If not you should beable to take it to a repair shop and have it fixed for less then what you saved so should still be a savings.

I bought a HP Quad Core Media desktop that was refurb.I was discounted $400.A couple of things did fail me:the secondary hard drive, and the memory card reader.HP mailed me the parts for free and it runs fine now.I would say be prepared for some repairs and be good at hardware fixes before you buy just in case something goes wrong.

It's just as good as new. Someone might have just turned it on or not liked the color, etc. Often they have never even been owned by someone and are just a cancellation that gets put up for resale at the Outlet store. But you have to buy it when you see it or it gets snatched up fast!

My own refurbished Dell outlasted both my Toshiba laptop and my brand new Dell.
I love refurbished and would recommend to anyone interested in saving money.

I bought a recertified barebones Shuttle XPC form www.newegg.com. This was about 2 years ago. I've been using it ever since as my media center PC hooked to my TV.
Just make sure you get a warranty.
