Why are republicans freaking out so much about tonight's debate moderator?

To me it just seems like they're worried, especially in light of Palin's last "off the cuff" interview, and they're grasping at straws or trying to make excuses in advance for her inevitbale poor performance. Why else would they be worried? Is there's any reason to be?....

A) It's not as if Gwen Ifill was selected to moderate this debate by the democratic party or anything...she was chosen by an independant, bi-partisan panel which has an equal amount of dems & repubs on it, all of whom were searching for journalists with a history of integrity & fairness in reporting...

B) The reason she was selected was because, of all of the people they looked at, she has made a career out of being one of the most objective, fair, un-biased journalists in the country. It's not as if they're going to have Jon Stewart or Bill O'Reilly on either side moderate a debate...

C) The moderator's questions are prepared & scripted in advance and approved before the debate.

D) If it even became remotely evident at any point in tonight's debate that she was trying to favor Biden or help his cause in any way, it would do vastly more damage for Obama/Biden than it would do good...

E) This all seems to stem from a book she is going to have published (AFTER the November elections mind you, so it's not going to hurt or help anyone's campaign anyway), which rebuplicans are trying to say is about Obama, and is pro-Obama...at least one of which is not true. The book is not "about Obama", it's an in-depth analysis at the history of blacks & american politics. Obviously, it's something she knows alot about (she's black & a political journalist), and how could it not included Obama (he's black, and running for president of the US)? Like it or not, he's the first black to run for president, and it most definitley a current world event, so what's the problem with writing a book about that? Furthermore, there's been no indication that the book is "pro" anyone. It's just a book about the history of minorities & the US political landscape.

...I could keep rattling these things off, but lunchbreak is almost over. So anyway, I ask again, why are republicans up in arms over this Ifill woman moderating tonights debate? Is it because they're hedging their bets? Is it because she's black? I don't understand it...it would seem to help Palin more than anything...

Update:

*is there any reason to be?"

...sorry for any miss-spellings, I had to type fast.

Update 2:

ug...you people either arn't reading my question beyond the title...

How can you compare gwen ifill, a woman who's name you've probably never heard before this week, with a douche like Rush Limbaugh?

Reclused herself? Is that even a word/verb?

"Jesus is going to CRUSH Obama"...wow, simply...wow...

Because they know that Palin is a moron who can not answer one single question straight.

The reason that the Republicans are "freaking out" is the same reason the Democrats would "poop their pants" if the moderator was writing a book about white women in politics with a special section praising the bravery of Sarah Palin. Both instances represent potential for strong bias, which is not desirabe in a political moderator.

  • McCain himself said it wasn't that big of a deal. A moderator ask questions, it's not like she decides who wins the debate or has specific questions for either candidate. I say let Palin debate before screaming about unfair treatment.

Left-wing politics as usual, Republicans have to deal with this crap all the time.

Its also too bad that there is NO balance in any of the major networks.

ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/MSNBC are so far off to the left they must be in Obama's pants where he wants them.

Fox looks so far right, because the whole US is so used to the TOTAL Left leaning media spouting their Pravda content to the People all day and all night. Fox is the only network anywhere near balanced and in no way tilts the whole media spectrum more than 10% to the Right-wing.

I haven't noticed any 'freaking out', but I keep seeing democrats on here asking similar questions. Wishful thinking, I say. McCain has already said the moderator will be professional and fair. What more do you need...

the moderator stands to make millions or nothing depending on the outcome of the election.

for that reason alone if she had any ethics she would excuse her self and let a person without her baggage step in..

    clearly she has no ethics

How would you feel about Rush Limbaugh moderating it?

    Enough said.
