Do I need to confirm my pregnancy with a doctor?
I haven't had a period and have taken two home tests that were both positive. I called an OB clinic and they scheduled my first appointment for a month away, for an ultrasound and some other stuff. But before I go, should I be seeing another doctor to confirm my pregnancy or is the two home tests enough? I also don't feel morning sickness, but I've heard that's normal at my early stage, but I don't have tender nipples. Should I be confirming my pregnancy with a doctor?

If you've had positive at home tests, you are pregnant. It would be a waste of time/money for the doctor to do a blood test, so most do not.
(Many women don't have morning sickness/sore nipples or any other symptoms early on. I had no syptoms until a couple of weeks after the missed period.)

The OB clinic will probably confirm the pregnancy when you go to your first appointment.
But if you feel like there may be a chance you aren't , make an appt with a family practice just for a pregnancy test. Home testing is not always accurate. There are all different things that can cause a false positive.

I went to a clinic after my hpt and they did some tests to confirm I wasn't already a high risk pregnancy. Urine test, checked my blood pressure and asked me some general questions. My responses determined if I could wait for my OB appt or if I needed to see an OB sooner.
I'd go see a doctor before the OB appt just to be sure. :)

My first appointment was with my Gynecologist (she's not an OB) and she took my word for it that I was prego and did my routine pap smear and some additional cultures. She also ordered some blood work. This was one day after my missed period, two days after I found out. I chose and OB and my first appointment was at 9 weeks. They took my BP, got a medical history, and gave me a trans-vaginal ultrasound to date the pregnancy. Many doctors won't even give you a pregnancy test if you've already taken an HPT and it was positive.

When you go to the clinic they will confirm the pregnancy then. Not everyone gets all the symptoms of pregnancy.

I have not heard of a doctors office not wanting you to come in rite away to get the blood work done to make complete sure and at least talk with you about the pregnancy. My suggestion is call around to a couple other OBGYN doctors and see what they say. I would go in to confirm as well as talk about the pregnancy if nothing else to get tips and make sure things are going ok. Congrats.

Two home tests are still only 99% accurate
2 home tests 99% accurate there is still a margin of error.
Might as well avoid the pseudosematicism of false pregnancy and get it done at a hospital for a 100% sure test.

your first doctors vistit with the doctor you will be seeing throught the pregnancy, should do a preg test on you...if you already set up the appointment, then wait, they should test you...
in the mean time, take your vitimans, and enjoy your non morning sickness

No you can wait until you go the the OB clinic. They will confirm it for you. If you had two positvie HPT's then you are fine. Congrats!!!

That is what the appt. is for. Not all women have pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness.
