I wondered why we cannot kiss our elbows ...?

You can't, right?

I realized that some things are indeed so close.. yet, are bound to be beyond our reach..

Do you think it's time we settle for what we think is possible and stop pursuing things that are just too hard to attain?

Opinions appreciated.. =)

    Ok, be honest, how many people actually tried to kiss their elbow after reading this question?

    By reading some of the other answers, I've noticed that what you see as an unattainable goal is possible. You never know what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it. Even though something may seem impossible now doesn't mean it won't be possible later on. Don't settle, strive to reach for your dreams. If you fail, well, at least you know you didn't give up on your dreams.

    No, it's never time to settle for what we think is possible and stop pursuing things that seem too hard to attain. If we don't try for the things that seem out of our reach, then who will? I'm a dreamer, and I will always try to reach the unreachable, because there is always the chance that maybe, just maybe I can reach it.

    P.S. You can't kiss your elbow? I thought everyone could do that. Am I the only one?

    I guess cause it's a part of our body that we can't kiss, yet its so close to us it seems so easy. The fact that it isn't causes us to try again to do it even if we can't. We always strive to succeed at something no matter what obstacles may be head of us, and even if we are deterred still we continue on, our determination allows us to do so. Still, I stand by the old saying:

    God grant me the serenity

    To accept the things I cannot change;

    Courage to change the things I can;

    And wisdom to know the difference.

    I guess it means we should also appreciate what we have and not take anything for granted since we don't know what surprises life may bring until its too late.

    I think that we should accept that there are some things which we can not change but still be willing to pursue those that are within reach and may one day be possible.

    I once heard some one say something along these lines: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the ones I can, and the wisdom to know which is which.

    Although i don't completely believe in God i think this saying fits perfectly here.

    Your Elbow Philosophy is unique.

    Some people also wish to kiss their sex organ but can't.

    However, "Pursuing things that are just too hard to attain" is the driving force towards motivational behavior of excellence.

    So I suggest you kiss the elbow of someone else to "taste" the difference.

    Well it is always best to continue pursuing certain things , but sometimes not so good to keep pursuing on and on even though we see we cannot obtain them...

    In my humble oppinion , yes indeed , we should settle for the things we think or know are possible.

    Let's not pursue too deep , because we all know that saying - "What we don't know won't hurt us." Therefore , some things we know or find out might just hurt us...literally or figuratively speaking.

    I actually can kiss my elbow, but only because my shoulder can disjoint.

    Some can attain the difficult things through hard work, but some difficult things can fall into the laps of people by pure luck of the draw.

    I can, but I've had two different Tommy John surgeries on my right elbow.

    Kiss the inner side of your elbow instead (next best thing).

    Actually, some people can kiss their elbows. Just because a goal is difficult to obtain is no reason not to try for it.
