Whoa, you have to hear this Black Metal band?

Interesting.

I notice the tracks you posted (well..at least the first two) are Shoegaze, not really BM.......

It is very pleasant music... but I gotta admit... I don't see how it's even remotely crossover Metal. (not that non-Metal is bad). But something about the first track oddly reminded me of...Oasis?

(or I may have had too much to drink)

Regardless... I did like them all (especially the third track now that I have listened to it)

I agree with you about 200% on most Black Metal being pretty indistinguishable from one another.... which is why I prefer Blackened crossovers (kinda like this). Have you ever checked out Melechesh, or Majesty of Silence? They definitely do NOT sound like your run of the mill Black Metal bands.

*** ohhhhhhhhhhh... definitely give "Deluge of Delusional Dreams" by Melechesh a shot then ( and "Forest" by MoS)... I think you will like them. I have listed Alcest in my favoritess file to look more into as time allows (and to see what they sounded like pre-Shoegaze). I find R&P to be kinda like cassette swapping used to be back in the day.... (never did understand those duded that hoard their metal collection like it'll lose value if other people listen to it..)

I knew I was in for something interesting when I saw it was a combination of black metal and shoegaze and it definitely was interesting. I don't know how much I would call them black metal though. Thats not an insult on the band, I just don't see a huge black metal influence in the sound of the band. This band is definitely great and worth checking out more of though. Nice find!

Dude!!! Have you bought "Souvenirs d'Un Autre Monde" yet? It took me 9 months to get my hands on it. Its the best wait I've ever faced!!! Trust me Roxel, its worth the effort it takes to find it!

By the way, its one guy doing all the music. His name is Neige. He has several projects if you ever go looking for Alcest on Myspace!! :)

Edit-- Amazon works great! I found my copy at HMV, you wouldn't believe the look of shock that hit my face! It was like finding the actual needle in a haystack! Its really amazing! You'll love it when you get your hands on it!!!

Back to Alcest, I do like their songs,...i just cant see how you can call them Black Metal though since they have none of the characteristics of BM..but thats just my opinion...kinda like the band Sigh's Gallows Gallery album..

Hey Roxel! Haven't seen you in a while.

They really don't sound like Black Metal at all, the vocals are pretty soft, too. They're all right, not something I would put on my iPod or anything.

Well you have finally shocked me Roxel. That sounded pretty awesome - especially the 3rd one. I really really like it! I don't want to jump the gun, but I might be able to say that I like a black metal band lol.

wow, you're right. They sound nothing like black metal. I can kind of hear the ethereal stuff in there though.
