Anybody have any of the dog breeds from this list?

I have both a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a basenji ( as well as a Chinook, German Shepherd, samoyed, and a husky mix)

My Rhody is 8 years old and starting to loose her eye sight but other than that all my dogs are healthy and they are all around 2-3 years old except my Rhody

I have two black and tan dachshunds. Both are in great health -- the only thing that ever harmed my doxie's back is when she was playing with a large dog and pulled a muscle in her back and had to be on cage rest. That is why I never let my dogs play with large breed dogs any longer and we only stay in small dog areas @ dog parks. Other than that, all of my dogs (3, i also have a cockapoo) are very healthy, never had a problem at all. Then again, I got mine from a great breeder of over 30 years who has a lot of champions in her lines and does many health screenings. A lot of times if you get your dog from a bad breeder who doesnt screen their breeding stock for health clearnaces, you will see a lot of health issues.

I have a Chinese Crested.. the hairless has dental issues.

Unless you seek a reputable breeder, there is risks of PRA, Dry Eye, Luxating Patella, Legges Perthe, Closer Ear Canal.. and I've heard of some with weird seizure and thyroid disorders.

A friend of mine is fostering a Shar-Pei, this one's pretty healthy.. I dont know all the diseases they are prone to, but they are prone to entropian of the eye, and weird skin infections between their wrinkles.

Dachshunds are prone to back problems.. a slipped disc can cause permanant paralysis.

This site is abit incorrect. It states that you must breed Hairless to Puff otherwise you have a 25% death rate in the pups. This is NOT true. The hairless gene is a lethal dominant gene, but an embryo that gets 2 hairless genes just simply wont develop, its reabsorbed. I've had conversations with reputable breeders about the death rates of their pups.. few have had dead or mal-formed pups.. and a majority of those pups were actually puffs, not hairless.

My sister has 3 sharpeas and one has pups

she also has the chinese crested ( hairy hairless, hairless and the powderpuff) other than the loosing of teeth at a young age and acne no health problems

I have a friend that breeds Basenjis

We had a Rhodesian Ridgeback when I was a kid. I was young but I remember her very well. She was great dog, no problems at all. She is actually the standard my parents compare all dogs to now. And none have matched up until the one they have now which is an American Pitbull.

My dad owns a dachshund. I know someone who owns a Rhodie. And I know someone else who owns a mastiff/rhodie mix. BIG dog hahaha

I know someone else who owns a Chinese Crested, but I wouldn't own one seeing they feel soo weird to me and they get cold super easily.

The dachshund has had multiple back surgeries and isn't allowed to jump up/on to things anymore because of it's spinal cord injuries from doing so. We have to carry it up and down the stairs from the porch, and sometimes down into the basement. So that's the major thing with dachshunds.

My aunt always has a dachsund. They have all gotten overweight and bad back problems. My ex-husband had a Sharpei and the folds of the dog's skin can really harbor moisture and get really stinky.

Have a Dachshund here. He has slipped 4 discs in his back so far. Due to the longer back.

We used to have dachshund. He never had health problems, but was VERY hard to housebreak. I have heard they have alot of back problems though, like discs slipping or something like that.

I own 2 dachshunds and they don't have any health issues.

My parents used to raise and breed them.

I love them to death.
