Could these be symtoms of a blood clot?

Last Thursday I had an MRI with contrast dye solution. The dye was injected into my left hand. The following day, my for-arm felt a little sore. I thought it was from the rubberband ternicate the technision used to dialate the veins in my hand before the injection.

Now, three days later my forearm and hand are very swollen and hurt like crazy. This pain is also felt up my entire arm. I have a red spot about the size of a half dollar on my arm that is hot to the touch. My arm also feels heavy and weak. Could this be a blood clot or a reaction to the contast dye? If this is a blot clot, it is considered dangerous condition?

Update:

This "red spot' is about 4 inches above the site where I had my injection. Just about my wrist on the back side of my arm.

sounds like you have an infection at your injection site. take a marker and draw around the redness if the redness does not go down but spreads pass the marker line you made then go see your doctor immediately . The infection could be spreading, either way you should contact your doctor, you may need an antibiotic. Good luck hope you feel better.

More than likely its a localized infection; very common. It's easily treated with antibiltics, but you have to see a doctor to be sure. Good Luck!
