Why is key working on handle, but not dead bolt?

I just had two new keys made for my house. My original key works on both the door handle locks and the dead bolts, but the new ones only work on the door handle locks. The same is true for the front and back doors, so I don't think it is a problem specific to one lock in a door. Why is this, and is there a way I can get a key made that will work on both without having to get a locksmith in? Thanks!

I'd say the two locks are very close, but not exactly the same, and your key copies are ever so slightly off. Go get new copies made from the original at another store.

I've noticed that sometimes new keys need "broken in" a little. Will it not work even with some good jiggling? Perhaps you can try having them remade again (the first person to do it may be new or something)

I am not sure I understand. It sounds like you left the door locked and took the knob off with the door in the locked position. Try reassembling the lock unlocking the door and then remove the lock. Or placing a screw driver in the bolt and turn it to unlock it. If this is all too late, you may resort to a file or a grinder. Next time call a lock smith.
