What is your idea of racism?

I know this may sound like a weird question, but it seems to me that people today are making false racist accusations. Some examples would be calling someone racist for not voting for Barack Obama even though it might be because that person doesn't agree with his views. Or not recognizing racism when it involves a flipped situation? My opinion is that anyone is capable of being racist if that person judges someone solely based on his ethnicity. Whether that person is black, white, asian, hispanic, indian, and so on. So, what exactly in your opinion, is racism?

Update:

Let me add that you cannot be racist against a homosexual because that is not what racism means. Racism is being prejudice against someone's race. Period. If you hate against someone's religion or sexual orientation, you are prejudice. Not racist. For some odd reason, racism has its own definition.

My opinion is more or less the same as yours.

BUT, you need to look around you. Unfortunatly, the people I know who would normally vote democratic are not only because of his race, and they openly admit it. If not his race, because of his middle name, and again, they openly admit it.

When talking about racism though, you have to look deeper than just people who discriminate based on skin color. What about sexual orientation? Class status? Education status? Number of children? Occupation? If you are going to talk about accusing people of not voting for Barak because he is black when in reality they dont agree with his views.... You have to look at the people that are voting for McCain, and the discrimination he puts on other groups of people.

Source(s): EDIT... Just to be clear I wasnt calling people against homosexuality racist. But it IS discrimination. Race is far from the only thing people use to discriminate against other people. Also, racism is NOT the act of discriminating. Racism is defined as a preconceived notion of people based on their skin color or heritage. Discrimination is the act of treating people unfairly based on any prejudice.

people throw the racist accusations around well to freely in my opinion,if you sneeze near a black person you can be considered racist, its pathetic,i live in england and im english and proud of it,but if i want to fly an english flag on my own bought property, its considered offencive, yet black folk are allowed to have jamaican flags all over their cars and property, whats that all about,i consider a racist someone who actually wishes harm on other race's,which i do not, live and let live that's what i say,and let me live with my feckin flag at full mast without some do gooder **** from the council bothering me about it.

Racism is usually stereotyping and applying an entire, undesirable trait to one entire race but it's traditionally feeling that one race is inherently superior to another.
