Do you think Obama told ACORN to fill out thousands of false voter registration forms?
Isn't that what these accusations are all about? And do you have any proof that he did?

He doesn't run the organization. Even if he has great influence there, such instruction would be counterproductive.
As long as the volunteers are busy filling out bogus forms, they are not out in the community actually signing up legitimate voters. Why would Obama ask ACORN to waste time when they could be getting out the vote instead? He won't benefit from thousands of imaginary people. He WILL benefit from real motivated Democratic voters.
The accusations are about changing the subject from the economy. As long as the media is investigating ACORN, they are not talking to people who have lost jobs or lost homes, nor to communities that have had entire manufacturing facilities shipped off shore.
The McCain camp also wants to keep the water muddy and stirred up so that people see the mud in the water, not the real candidate who is offering strong leadership and a different direction for the country.

This was clearly people trying to make a quick buck by not doing the actual work it takes to register voters and instead filling out forms themselves. They are even now being arrested and charged. Acorn was also a victim of their acts.
The fact that they made fake voter registrations does not mean that any of the fake people will show up at the polls. How could they? They don't exist.
What more concerns me is the Reps trying to get people off the voter rolls in Ohio and a few other states by saying they no longer live at the addresses at which they registered because they have been foreclosed on. While it smacks of desperation, it is a more serious attack on the voting system than a few fake registrations.

No, he didn't. What caused this to happen was that ACORN workers were being paid by the registration, not by the hour. This was a stupid decision on the part of the managers of ACORN, as they should have known that this system would be abused.
How can you seriously allege voter fraud when A) the rejection of the registrations means that no votes will be cast, and B) the fact that many of these registrations were identical indicates that whoever was doing it had no intention of seeing the registrations produce new voters?

Nope. In fact, Acorn didnt tell them to do that either. The people who got hired went and did that probably because they were too lazy to go door to door and get real signatures. I think it was just a bunch of lazy behind folks who didnt want to do their jobs. The way to clean that mess up is to make sure that the people they hire are supervised when they go out to get people to register to vote. A lot of times, these jobs are filled by young people, and they can just be lazy sometimes.

What kills me with you people is the fact that people from Acorn have come out and said where these problems are coming from. The McCainites don't know the truth if it came out of their own mouths. They have nothing else to lean on so they are trying to pin everything on Obama, or the dems as a whole. They are gasping for air because they are about to drown. Obama had nothing to do with the problems that Acorn is having. They are just mad because they know that most of the people who register with Acorn are most likely to vote for Barack.

He paid them over $800,000... what do you think?
Obama used a non-profit group called Citizens Services Inc. as a front to funnel payments to ACORN for campaign work.
CSI is a part of Acorn... on paper they are two different organizations... but they are the same people, employees, facilities...
The payments were for:
$310,441.20 25-FEB-08 STAGING, SOUND, LIGHTING
$160,689.40 27-FEB-08 STAGING, SOUND, LIGHTING
$98,451.20 29-FEB-08 TRAVEL/LODGING
$74,578.01 13-MAR-08 STAGING, SOUND, LIGHTING
$18,417.00 28-MAR-08 POLLING
$18,633.60 29-APR-08 STAGING, SOUND, LIGHTING
$63,000.00 29-APR-08 ADVANCE WORK
$105.84 02-MAY-08 LICENSE FEES
$105.84 02-MAY-08 LICENSE FEES
$75,000.00 17-MAY-08 ADVANCE WORK
$13,176.20 17-MAY-08 PER DIEM
Doesn't matter though... the USA is speaking up!! At least 58% of them, and what they're saying is: WE WANT SOCIALISM!!!! This is all gonna go down in History in a big way!!!

No. ACORN hired some lazy people and they filled out false registrations because they were being paid by the number they turned in. The false registrations have been caught and weeded out. Obama had nothing to do with it. The ACORN people need to be reprimanded for not supervising their part-time employees.

At this point, it doesn't matter if he did or not. He gave them (a non-partisan non-profit organization) money for campaign services. In order to conceal it, ACORN just incorporated it under themselves. When looking up their IDs, CSI and ACORN are one and the same and it is highly unethical and suspect. If Barry doesn't want to be questioned on such things, he should quit doing them. So far, he hasn't learned and keeps forgetting to pick up his cookie crumbs.

No, and Obama did a great job of addressing this last night.
ACORN was paying people to register voters. Instead of actually going out to register real people, a few people decided it'd be easier to get paid to fill out phony forms themselves.
There's no fraud going on, just laziness.

No. Obama KNOWS what ACORN does. If you read at all, you would also know that ACORN is being investigated in 11 states for voter fraud.
Obama didn't have to tell them what to do. He just gave them a pile of money. Money that was generously donated to his campaign. Seems this guy is an expert at spending other people's money.
How many votes can $800,000 buy?
